Handcart Quilts is a family business owned by Casey and Ayn Taylor. After falling in love with quilting while working at AccuQuilt Ayn knew that this is what she wanted to do. At the time Casey was working in the service department at a Chevrolet dealership in Louisville NE. When the time came for Ayn to leave AccuQuilt she went to work at the Family farm located between Clarinda and Villisca. While spending time in Clarinda Ayn noticed a building for rent on the square and asked the Chamber about it. That was how it all started. In the next six weeks Ayn would drive everyday from Omaha to Clarinda and back 90 miles each way. Painting the 7000 square foot interior, buying all of the props and product and filling the store. In that time Casey and Ayn also looked at houses and bought one only 5 blocks from the store. They were able to close on the house and quickly moved before opening day. From signing the lease to opening day was 6 weeks. Casey quickly left to get training in New Jersey for repairing Janome and all other sewing machines. He then took another class on vintage sewing machines and fell in love with Featherweights among others. At this time Handcart Quilts and Yarns Sells New Janome Machines, Vintage machines of all kinds with a good selection of Singer Featherweights. They have 1600 bolts of fabric on average and near 3000 skeins of yarn. Handcart Quilts and Yarns works hard to bring you fabulous products at reasonable prices.
