My siblings and I had our mother's funeral at Hansen-Schilling. Our funeral director, Pete, was extremely helpful with all of the details from when we first met to plan the funeral all the way through to the post-funeral luncheon, which we also held at Hansen's. All of the staff at Hansen's that we worked with were very courteous and professional, and their venue is top-notch. They made the entire experience as easy as possible for our family and I would highly recommend them.
We used this funeral home this last weekend for my mother's funeral. Cory was out director he was amazing we told him what we wanted and what my mom wanted. I did not have to worry at all and everything was amazing. I would highly recommend this funeral home during your time of mourning.
We had my younger brothers funeral here back in May. Being that my brother was only 19 and was welled liked by many, we had a rather large group there for the service. Cory was the director we had. He went above and beyond what we expected! It started by him just listening to what all of us as family members had to say. At one point my mom and I went to talk to him away from the rest of the group because we had a couple of special requests, he was more than happy to oblige. My brother’s favorite color was pink, we wanted to get pink roses to give people to throw in when we buried him, Cory’s response was something along the lines of “what kind of pink”, we said hot pink, we ended up with very bright pink roses, which was perfect! We had asked for a verse from “Big Green Tractor” by Jason Aldean to be the put in the memorial card, we saw them st visitation, Cory had put a picture of a John Deere in there. When we arrived the day of the visitation, we discovered that there was a giant version of the picture had given them, when we looked closer, it was a blanket that they had made for us,we had no clue this would be there until we got there. We had told Cory that the day of the funeral the pallbearers were all going to be wearing plaid shirts because that’s something my brother wore a lot of. When we got there the day of the funeral, Cory was standing outside, wearing a very bright pink shirt, because he knew it was my brother’s favorite color, he said he was going to wear a shirt to match the pallbearers but it didn’t go so well with his dress pants. We told him that some of us were going to be riding from my brother’s fiancé’s house to the cemetery on 4wheelers, she lives just outside of Spencer and he is buried in a cemetery in Spencer. Cory offered to call Spencer police to let them know what we were doing so they would leave us alone. And lastly, and the burial he had planned a surprise for us. He had us to a balloon release at the end. He picked the colors pink, green, and yellow for the balloons; pink because it was my brother’s favorite color, the yellow and green to represent a John Deere tractor as my brother was a farmer. Again, I cannot say enough good things about our experience here. Cory made a very hard time for my family as easy as he possibly could. Not that I would ever want anybody to have to bury anybody, but if you do, I would highly recommended having it here!!!!
When we called we were put in touch with Fred right away. He made arrangements to have us come in and see him on a Saturday afternoon. We were in a bit of a hurry and was able to see us a bit earlier. Fred was a straight shooter. He was very accommodating to ALL of our families needs, and there was a lot! From beginning to end it was a great experience. We would HIGHLY recommend Hansen-Schilling.
Loree Rezaie- in response to your inaccurate review I would like to tell the whole story. First let me start by telling everyone that the reason your friend was in a gown is because the family did not bring in any other clothing and requested a gown be used since it was only to be two brothers coming in to say a quick goodbye. Second the "old blanket" was his blanket. We have many nice options but we follow the families wishes. Third, this was not a visitation or a funeral of any kind this was to be two brothers saying goodbye and could only do it on that day during another funeral which was explained. Then a girlfriend took advantage of us providing some services for free and decided on her own to invite all of his friends to make it a visitation. Friends and family were allowed to say goodbye but after 50 minutes and finding guests eating food from the other family's funeral we were forced to ask people to say their goodbyes and allow the planned funeral to have the building that they paid for. We take pride in the fact that we go above and beyond for each family and upon request I can produce over 50 thank you cards detailing these facts just from my desk top alone. If this girlfriend would have simply asked for a visitation on a night we had no other funerals planned I would have done it for free because of their financial situation.
We used this funeral home for my grandmothers service. The staff, facility and family that own it are exceptional! I would highly recommend them to family, friends and neighbors of Marshfield. I can not thank them enough for everything they have helped my family with.
My friend had his viewing there prior to cremation and they left him in a hospital gown and covered in an old blanket. They rushed us and his widow out the door after a short time saying they had another funeral scheduled, and practically pushed us out the door. Very rude and no compassion for his grieving family and friends. I will never recommend or use this facility!
Beautiful place, so homey and cozy!
