The first time I tasted my toffee I was in the best restaurant in the world, my Nana’s kitchen. Is it possible that maybe my opinion is subjective? I guess it could be, but how many kitchens can define the season based on the smells emanating from them? My Nana’s kitchen could. Those same smells have defined my Mothers kitchen and now they define mine. The warm inviting scent of melted butter and sugar as it emulsifies in a cast iron skillet. The sounds of roasted almonds popping as they are added to the blend and the undeniable smell of melted dark chocolate with chopped organically grown walnuts.
