16 years ago I met the love of my life my cat Payton who gave me a love and passion for all animals especially cats. She was my first pet and suffered with serious medical problems all of her life. At times it became hard and overwhelming, but I never stopped loving her. 2 weeks before her 17th birthday her body gave up and she lost her life time battle. Because of her and the love I had for her, I vowed I would carry on my love for cats. In her honor I credit her for the over 2000 cats I rescued. I realized if i wanted to grow and save more lives I needed to open my own rescue and carry on Payton's legacy. I call my rescue Happy Homes because without my beloved pets I wouldn't have as happy a home as I do!

To help reduce the unnecessary euthanization of pets in NY and NJ.

I had been looking to adopt a cat after I lost my senior cat in December. I reached out to the foster mom of the cat I had that I adopted two years ago She had left that rescue group and joined Happy Homes. I applied and was approved and the experience has been such a pleasurable one. When I told them who I was interested in Elaine reached out and was very honest about each cat. The one I really wanted to meet had been overlooked because she has limited vision in one eye. She asked if I was sure I wanted to meet her and I said yes. I immediately feel in love with her and she has been with me for a month. I am in touch with Elaine all the time to send her photos and let her know how happy I am the way things turned out. I would highly recommend them due to their honesty and love for their cats.
A review for Happy Homes? Very easy! We have adopted....9 cats now from HH. I was worried about dealing with a rescue when we first adopted. I found out quickly that Elaine and all the fosters are amazing. We talked to Elaine about the cats we had at the time. Our vet was confirmed and that was it. I think her secret is that she is very good at reading people and knows a cat lover when she meets them. Lucky for us!. Since then, we have adopted 8 other cats and have ALWAYS found Elaine to be caring and goes out of her way to accommodate meet and greets. She and the fosters want all their cats to get great homes so that they can continue to rescue more. They have lives, jobs and families yet always strive to socialize and give their cats their best lives. Happy Homes is hands down the best rescue out there.
Elaine and her team at Happy Homes are wonderful! I just adopted my second cat from them in two years. First and foremost, their main priority is the health and well-being of the animals that they take in. Both of my cats actually came from out-of-state. So, not only are they helping animals found here in NJ, they're also doing their part to rescue cats who might not have been given a chance elsewhere. During both of my adoptions, the team was very helpful in answering all of my questions about the cats: personalities, backstories, health, behavior with other cats, the food they were eating, etc. etc. My first cat was born without a tail, and second had an eye removed due to an injury. We went over all of the needs for their situations and I received all of their detailed medical records to pass along to my vet. Scheduling was super easy as well. We found times that worked for both parties and easily set up both my meetings and adoption days. I also really appreciate their vetting process. I was asked some important questions, which in turn, let them know the kind of pet owner I would be. They really want to make sure their cats are going into the best homes possible, and they make sure of it with due diligence. I highly recommend Happy Homes!! My cats bring me lots of joy and companionship, and they are the best of friends. So, of course... here they are!
My family just adopted a kitten from Happy Homes and it could not have been a better experience. Elaine and company were supportive, informative and wonderful. The whole process was easy and stress-free. If you’re looking to bring an animal into your life or want to support good people doing good work, I highly recommend you work with this organization, they are amazing.

My family has adopted 3 cats from Happy Homes…so far… Elaine is a caring Rescuer who not only dedicates selfless time to pulling and taking care of shelter or found cats, she also gets to know you and the animals to find the perfect match for a furever home. Happy Homes is easy to work with and made all of our adoption processes a great, fulfilling experience. We still send her pictures of Eddie, Goose and Nelson and when we are ready, we will be back
I adopted a cat about 2 years ago. Elaine was personable, knowledgeable and easy to go through the process with. Every time I go into Petsmart, the cats are well taken care of. The volunteers are very nice. This rescue truly care about all animals and I wouldn’t go anywhere else.
I've adopted two cats through Happy Homes and found them excellent to work with. They are responsive and truly care about placing animals in the best possible homes. I've adopted through several rescues over the years, and my experience with them has been the best - hands down.
Just this past Friday I discovered this amazing rescue and tonight I brought a sweet little Siamese home. Elaine is great very responsive and thorough. The adoption form and process was thorough. I also had a lot of communication with the foster mom Amy who was equally great and responsive. I would definitely adopt again from this group. Highly highly recommended!
