During my time as a home health caregiver I've worked with several different hospice agencies. When it came time to choose an agency for my grandmother I chose tradition. You couldn't ask for more educated or caring staff.
It's been 6 months since my mother passed away from dementia & Traditions Health / Harbor Light were a godsend for me. I can't elaborate enough on the constant care & personal attention they gave my mom & always keeping me updated on any changes. The Chaplin was also a wonderful, pleasant, concerning man who also comforted my mom & stayed in touch with me. I'd like to give Dave a shout out, TYVM Dave for your care to my friend Janet/Stretch in Demotte & my mom Linda at the Bickford. Also another shout out too Casandra who always stayed in touch with me. All of the Hospice aides were angel's & I am so blessed to have had all of them walking me down this trail. Traditions Health has continued too stay in touch with me for any grieving or emotional support I may still need & especially with the Christmas holidays coming up. Thank you all & bless you all for all you do for the patients & familys with end of life care!
Worst experience ever! My mother, sister, and I have all been in nursing for over 20yrs. We called them and told them my stepfather was about to pass. We had been up all night with him. They came out for a couple of hours. Told us, we didn't know what we were talking about. Left and an hour later he had passed. I had cleaned my stepfather myself, and we had the coroner on their way before they ever showed up, again...
Worst experience ever! We felt like dad was treated like just a peice of meat laying there. The first nurse barley spent a minute with him. She was more concerned about seeing his dog. She forgot to bring the stuff they promised us like the bed covers and diapers TWICE! Then sent a different preson out who was okay and spent a little bit more time explaining things to us. They promised that when he passed they would be there within an hour. 5 hours later they showed with no clue who to call. We did an hour of paperwork prior and arrangements were made already. We were so disappointed in this company. Nothing what they promised. As far as bereavement counseling kiss that goodbye. I do not recommend this company.
I can’t say enough about how Harbor Light walked alongside our family during such a sensitive and important time. My father’s care and ultimately his passing was treated with the utmost, care, profesionalism and understanding. They bring both the highest level of compententcy and a deep heart as they see the person as more than a patient but as they are, a husband, father, grandfather, friend and loved one. My father passed with dignity and peace thanks in first part to the grace and mercy of God and I believe second, to the ministry that Harbor Light was able to provide. I consider it a ministry and not just a service because of the healing hand and values that accompany their staff. With each interaction I was greated with cooperation and care. When challenges would arise they were partners in problem solving and finding solutions promptly and within the wishes of the family. I had challenges accepting the administering of certain medications to ease my farher’s pain. Harbor Light talked me through it but not in a “trying to convince me” sort of way. They listened, acknowledged and helped me come to a place where I was ready in my own way and in my time. That was very important to me. Each team memeber I encountered was outstanding and particularly the nurse they provided. Tony Davila went above and beyond. When he said, call anytime, he meant it. Because he is spanish speaking, his unique abilities helped to provide special comfort to my mother which made all the difference. As we saw the moment of my father’s passing draw near, we called for him but he was suppose to be off that day. He still came in the middle of the night because he knew that my mom needed to have all the support we could gather. They helped us to get the best equipment to make my father’s final days as comfortable as possible and worked with us every step of the way. I was really blown away. After my father’ passing, they continued to stay engaged abliet at a distance in order to provide the family space to mourn and grieve in our own way. They followed up with thoughtful letters that offered support and insight into the grieving process as well as counseling for any family memeber that may need someone to talk to. We are coming upon a year since my father’s passing and my mother is still struggling with the loss although she is a women of tremendous faith. Given they had 50 years together it’s of course understandable. I reached out to them about counseling and again they responded promptly and with much consideration. Accepting hospice for my father wasn’t and easy decision however by the way they walked alongside us, Harbor Light confirmed it was the right one. I share all this to say, that my experience with Harbor Light was of the highest order and much more than I expected. I can’t thank them enough for what they did for my father and my family. Thank you Harbor Light. The López family will always be grateful.
Worst experience ever. This is my 3rd hospice experience, but the first time I had to wait 5.5 hrs for the nurse to show up. My aunt passed at 1236am we called at 1250 the nurse did not call until 209am to tell us he was running behind. Earlier in the day we were told by nurse she would be surprised if my aunt made it through the night and that unfortunately the nurse on call later would be at least an hour away. By 4 am the nurse still had not arrived. We called again and were told his car broke down and they could not find a replacement. Why on earth did he not call us the minute the car broke down. Supposedly He was only 8 miles from our home, he could have taken an uber or we could have gone and got him. Either way this behavior was very unproffesional. We ended up calling a total of 4 times. The 3rd time they told us he got his car going and was on the way. It should have not taken longer then 20 minutes and it took another hr. So my aunt who took her last break at 1236am was not pronounced until 550am. Ridiculous!!
This organization is FANTASTIC! They are quick to take action & caring employees. I cant say enough good things about Harbor Light.
