We hope to provide program and clinic information as well as connecting with and staying in touch with alumni and students of the Counseling Program
We are a CACREP accredited graduate counseling program! CACREP is the gold standard for counseling accreditation nationally, and it allows our students to easily license in other states as well as work with military clients. We offer this program on our Rogers, AR, Searcy, AR and Memphis, TN campuses. Some of our courses may also be taken at the North Little Rock, AR campus. We have a 48-hour Masters of Science in Professional School Counseling (M.S.) degree. This degree would enable you to work as a k-12 school counselor. We also have a 68-hour MS/EdS Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree. Some of the electives in our clinical mental health program include: play therapy, equine therapy, experiential therapy and childhood traumatic grief. Some of the career opportunities for clinical mental health therapists (LAC/LPC) are adult counseling, premarital counseling, couples counseling, career counseling, family counseling, group counseling, conflict resolution, self-injurious behaviors counseling (such as eating and cutting disorders), problems in childhood, and psychotherapy. A student can apply as an MS/EdS candidate and complete dual licensure coursework to satisfy both school counseling and clinical mental health licensure. During the program, you will have the opportunity to work with students in other healthcare fields through several interprofessional experiences and you will get a minimum of 800 hours of hands on experience with clients under the supervision of our faculty as well as a site supervisor in the field.
We believe all people, if given the opportunity, can learn! We have a responsibility to educate students from all backgrounds, and, here at Harding, we are particularly proud of the our graduates and the lives that they impact every single day. Our graduate programs are known for graduating leaders who are successful counselors and have their sights on providing excellent care.
The mission of Harding's Professional Counseling: Clinical and School Program is to prepare counselors to provide caring, compassionate and competent counseling services in a variety of settings to a diverse population. To that end, students will be provided with a current, practical, and ethical education consistent with Harding's Christian foundations equipping them to be effective counselors capable of facilitating healthy change, growth and development.
