Qualitative Fit Testing
Qualitative fit testing uses a challenge agent such as banana oil, saccharin, or Bitrex. The test is subjective and relies on the worker’s sense of taste or smell.
This 20-minute Qualitative Respiratory Mask Fit test ensures a tight, effective and customized fit for your face, to protect you from airborne contaminants. Mask fit testing is mandatory for many school and workplace admissions, including Health Science and Nursing programs, and is an OSHA requirement for any worker who might need to wear respiratory protection at work.
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Requirements
According to the Department of Labor, you must be fit tested before using a respirator in the workplace, and you must be tested at least every twelve (12) months. You must be tested with the specific respirator you will be using.
OSHA has set requirements for using a respirator on the job, it’s to keep you safe and healthy. Basically, whenever an employer requires an employee, or an employee voluntarily chooses, to wear a respirator, OSHA requires a Respiratory Protection Plan. This requirement can be found under OSHA’s Respiratory Protection Standard (29 CFR 1910.134).
Medical Clearance
Before an employee is fit-tested or required to use a respirator in the workplace, you must provide a medical evaluation to determine if the employee is able to use the respirator.
Convenient for you with an on-site respiratory Medical Evaluations clearance. First, we’ll ask you some questions about health and safety and your occupation. Then, a doctor will review this information and complete your Medical Evaluations.

• Do not eat or drink (except for water) at least 15 minutes prior to your appointment. This includes chewing gum
