After not having been to a general practitioner in over a decade, I decided to establish primary care with Harpers Ferry Family Medicine. As someone young and without a list of health issues while also being healthy overall, the process was very simple. During my visit, both doctors seeing me were welcoming and friendly in addition to helpful for the few concerns I did have. Prior to my appointment, the wait time was minimal. However, future appointments can only be up to nine months in advance, which is unusual to some degree as it is typical to schedule annual visits. Nevertheless, this is not a major inconvenience although a follow-up call will be required later.
Scheduled a new patient appointment in February, got a call on June 1st an hour before my appointment just to tell me that the doctor I was supposed to see wasn’t in clinic yet. Wanted to reschedule me out to the end of September after already waiting for 3 months. This is beyond unacceptable and I’ll never be a patient because of it.
This place is horrible. If you need a routine close place to give you a well visit paper here you go. I genuinely love some of the doctors. However administration is hell. It takes months to get an appointment and I took my 13 month daughter who seemed off with her breathing and they literally said they couldn't even have a nurse look at her or oxygen levels. All they want you to do is overpay for medical care at the hospital. First place I went to out of WVU medicine immediately treated her asthma HEALING her as that should be their number one priority. Absolutely ridiculous.
Had my first visit May 4 to see a doctor and follow up visit for lab work. The staff and the doctors all very professional. Would not hesitate to go back.
My family has been going there for years. We are still going there. The doctor is good and the nurses are nice but it's so hard to talk to anyone there. If you have to place a phone call to make an appointment or ask a question you may as well take the time to go to the office because their phone service is the pits. I spend like 20 minutes on hold each time I try and call with the same song playing over and over again and it's interrupted every 30 seconds or so with the same message giving you their web address. A couple of times like today I waited on hold for 30 minutes just to have a recording come on saying they couldn't take my call and would call me back in 24 hours. That's crazy! It's a doctors office with people needing real help. You would think they would hire someone to answer the phones. We still go there because right now it's just easiest to stay with the same doctor. BUT... if you are trying to choose a new doctor then I suggest you look someplace else. If it weren't for their lousy phone service I would give them 5 stars.
Dr. Ward and his entire team are first rate, experienced and compassionate! Thank you all!
Our family has been loyal to Harpers Ferry Family Medicine for over 20 years. In that time, things have slowly just gotten worse and worse. I have to take water pills because I have kidney disease. I will swell really badly and my blood pressure goes crazy high without them, which is how I ended up with a 3-day hospital stay in 2019. That being said, myself and the pharmacy have been sending electronic requests their preferred method of communication for 8 days and now I have run out completely. I have emailed the doctor. I have called the office only to have to sit on hold for 15 mins and have it time out and get dumped into a voicemail. There has literally been no contact from them as to why they won’t fill it, even though my kidney specialist has me on it long term. I’m at my wits end with these people. They don’t seem to really care too much about their patients, even if they have severe health issues.
Absolutely would not recommend this office. Several times in the past year medications has been prescribed with wrong refill dates and had to call repeatedly to get it corrected. Doctors don’t respond to mails in healthcare app. Not sure how this office still has a license to operate.
Everyone is very nice, but the whole practice is disorganized. I was sceduled and I sat over two hours and than was told that I was sceduled to early because it would take longer for my insurance to get verified because it was for birthcontrol. So they canceled out the payment for that day. For a month I called and called and I just kept being told its not verified yet. It took for me to call my insurance myself to get them to get me in before my birthcontrol implant was due. I was promised to be squeezedd in with the woman doctor who I originally had , but was told she nothing available. So I was sceduled with Joseph Enfonde. I was not told he was a resident who just graduated and was training. He was nice yes, but he cut my arm open way to much to remove the nexplanon. I bled for two days and had a very big gauge in my arm. Its been two weeks and is not heeled completely. Another reason I noticed he was new is because I watched him keep the same gloves on that he did my procedure with to pull his pen out and write when my next implant date is due. Very un sanitary.
Easy appointments, easy parking, easy phone assistance.. Not like the rest of the Family Medicine Clinics. The doctors posted at HF are true residents and professors and doctors, who care about their patients and want to actually help. It was a huge relief to come here after being with Inwood for 10 years and just spinning my wheels. Dr. Ward and staff are great, they have scribes, on a screen/tablet via live video, working from home so the room isn't overcrowded,
