Nice well maintained park. The staff were pleasant, the guests were pleasant, the maps they provide were helpful to show us all the trails that are around there. The beach is beautiful with nice big waves. Everyone seems to know it's a good one. There are rarely spots available at this park. We did a random impromptu visit because we happened to notice they had a spot available! I would definitely recommend a visit. It is good to note that it is also a day use park not just a campground. So if they don't have sites available you can still use the day use area.
This is my favorite OR coast campground. I love all the basalt rocks on the shore here. There are 4 beaches, separated by rocky outcroppings. At low tide you can walk around the rocks separating the northernmost beach and it’s neighbor. The beaches are all different; my favorite is the small Rocky Beach which is the 3rd one counting from north to south. This beach has some sand and a lot of short basalt rocks with sea stars and sea anemones and several enormous basalt rocks just beyond the shore in the water.m On Beach 2 you can walk around a huge rock at low tide if you don’t mind wading just a bit. On the back side you are between two enormous rocks. There are many sea stars, limpets, barnacles, and sea anemones clinging to the base of those rocks. Beach 1 is very small unless you wade across the creek which isn’t more than several inches deep, but of course the water is cold. From the campground there is a trail through the woods to the access for beaches 1 and 2. They also have parking there. Another trail from the campground takes you to beach 3, the Rocky one. And down the entrance road a bit is a trail to beach 4, the southern most one. That beach is very wide and extends well beyond the park. Beaches 1-3 are only accessible from the park. We visit in February, usually, and none of the beaches are crowded, but there are always more than one family there.
One of the best campsites we have ever stayed at. Very clean campsite and bathrooms. Friendly staff. The beach is breathtaking!!! Also a plus that the town is just a couple minutes away in case you have forgotten anything. We can’t wait to come back
Excellent state park! We stayed at Harris Beach SP over the Thanksgiving holiday. Many of the campsites were closed for the season which is was somewhat of a mixed blessing. On the plus side, it was not crowded--this would be a cramped park during the peak season. But because of the closures, we were not able to reserve a site with all the amenities we wanted. We still enjoyed the park though! It was clean and beautiful. Lots of trees and greenery. The RV site was spacious. The camp host and staff were friendly. The beach is amazing! The walk to the beach is very close and there's a spacious parking lot right at the beach along with restrooms. We walked out early for the sunrise and back again for the sunset. It was really lovely. The park itself is just at the north end of town Brookings so it's only a mile or two to the grocery store and lots of good restaurants. Dogs are only allowed on the beach with leashes which is like demanding that kids not run on the playground.
Very nice state park. We came in late the day we stayed as we originally were traveling a different direction. We didn't have a reservation and thought we'd take a chance on our way through. They were full but ended up letting us stay in one of their reserved overflow spots. Was very nice of them to let us stay. Has great hiking trails, clean facilities, friendly/very safe, and tide pools where we got to see star fish and more. I would definitely recommend staying at this awesome state park.
A wonderful state park. D loop is very close to 101 so you hear a lot of the highway noise but its tucked away in the back so you don't have too much park traffic. Nice short walk to the beach.
I bought the last avaliable spot August 15th and spent $24 for a nights reservation for tent site D1. Every spot was taken , at least 20 RV's and 20 others. There are spots for RV's in loops A,B and C with full service hook ups. They also have Yurts. D loop has tent sites with only water spout and dish drain. Check in is at 4pm and check out is at 1pm. It's right off highway 101 could hear traffic really well. The later it got the less traffic. Also we could hear what sounded like highway equipment doing work. Mind you this is after quiet time 10pm. Our camp site had a picnic table and a big firepit with built in bbq grate. It's a hike down to the ocean from the campsites. You can drive down to the day use area and park there. They have so many trails we did not get to explore them all. They have a playground in the middle of A loop. Fire wood is only sold from 4pm to 7pm for $5 a bundle and camp host doesn't give change he told us upfront lol. There are 2 live in camp host. The camping spots are really packed in there. We could hear the neighbors conversations. There are bath rooms and showers in every loop. The restrooms and showers are clean and the hot water felt so good after getting sandy. We really enjoyed staying one night at this beautiful spot. Down on the beach there is alot to explore like tide pools, sea animals, bird watching, kite flying, rocks and shells. Even some drift wood architecture going on lol. Just beautiful
Beautiful beach with restroom and hiking areas. Easy walk down to the shore. Fairly popular but not overly crowded. Watch the tides and have fun!
Absolutely incredible views in this well maintained ocean side beach park & campground. Spent my 40th birthday night there and was very impressed with the location.
Calming waves and seagulls flying around make this a wonderful spot for an early morning walk. Public restrooms are available and the park is open 8am to 9pm. If you're nearby stop and see this beautiful slice of nature.
