Took my toddler and baby to emerald park on what was a beautiful sunny day. Noticed an officer park their car for about 10 minutes nearby. The school buses started dropping kids off from school and some grouped up inside the park about 30ft away. A brawl broke out between two groups of kids. Pushing, punching, stomping, and kicking ribs. This escalated into 20~30 seconds of gunfire. I grabbed my toddler off the slide and baby from the stroller and hid behind the slide. I see the officer’s car drive off and I felt abandoned. I could only pray no stray bullets hit one of my children. Gunfire ceased and the crowd scattered. The only ones left in the park was me holding onto my daughters. Neighbors starting to come out from safety to assess the situation and shouted if everything was fine. Thank god no one was injured and I understand the situation was too dangerous to engage but there should’ve been an officer asking us if everything was fine after everything cooled down, instead there were tire marks where they had parked.
This department is full of cognitively impaired men and women with badges who apparently were raised on Call of Duty games and Red Bull. Unfortunately they outnumber the good and reasonable officers who likely work without fanfare for the dept. Their discernment and judgement are sorely lacking and the jump to escalate a completely innocent situation made serious BY their lack of discernment should concern all citizens of Harrisburg and the entire US.
Got hit by another car this morning. Only one and a half blocks from the police department on my way to work. Over an hour later after talking with dispatch and no officer showed up. What kind of service is this. I always stay late at work to finish your water pumps. But will not be anymore.
What is going on with Harrisburg PD? Why is there NO law & order? Crimes are going up and citizens feeling unsafe. Harrisburg is the Capital of Pennsylvania our politicians and governor work in this area how do they not see this? There needs to be a major change in emergency funds allocated to resolve this issue and make our Capital great
Though I cannot speak to the other encounters on here... We had an instance to require officers to go through the house to ensure it was safe. They were friendly and treated us respectfully. It could have been a terrible day and circumstances but that was lessened by the professionalism of all involved from the dispatcher to the officers who responded. I hope I don’t have cause to call them in the future but if I do I am confident they’ll act to ensure the safety of my community with dedication and courage! Thank you gals+guys for everything!
Absolutely horrible called about my brother and couldn't get through the automated system .your suppose to put in a detective name and number .who knows detectives name and number . Call back please 8 for the supervisor the phone ring for 15 minutes with no answer. Been calling for 30 minutes and cannot speak to a human being to save my life or anyone else's.
My dad had his license plate stolen and he called the non-emergency number they said they'll send somebody out and if they don't get before he goes to bed which it was 4 hours before he was going to bed to have him call back before he go to bed so he went to bed I call them back and told them he was going to bed and to call the next day so he called back at 10:30 in the morning and they said they'll send somebody out this was three weeks ago and he is still waiting. My dad is 81 paid taxes in Harrisburg forever. I don't recommend to call the non-emergency number ever just call 911 because the non-emergency number is nothing but a waste of time and money to the taxpayers. I bet the police is willing to show up to pull him over for not having a license plate. He went to Penn dot and got a new license plate. Just glad he didn't need a police report.
If you are of African descent you’ll boldly know that you do not mater to them! This department has shown so much injustice and disregard for human rights!
Was harassed outside of a gas station with my boyfriend by a middle aged short bald headed officer in street clothes who was not undercover or on duty. He continued to follow us then jumped in his black Jeep, drove up to us, asked my boyfriend if he had a job?? We were in nice clothes because we just left a rehearsal dinner. I finally now see why people have a negative perspective about the police force. I used to argue in favor of the police but after Friday night’s incident and some unprofessional experiences in the past, I would say your reputation does hold true. It’s unfortunate for the very few good ones left. I’m sure they thank you.
The police around here. I would love to leave encouraging words. All i can say is Im glad no one got hurt when they rudely came to my home. It doesnt take much to be a cop. U dont need common sense, to be a decent person , I guess a diploma or G.e.d! I actually returned today and spoke with the supervisor. if thats what id call him They want the black community to go down in any distruction it can. If i was white, i know itd be different. 0 starts...
