Harrison's Restaurant and Bar

About

Harrison's Restaurant is located in the heart of historic Stowe village. We serve creative comfort food in an upscale, relaxing environment.

Description

We opened Harrison’s in the winter of 2003 with the goal of creating a restaurant to reflect our experience growing up here. To do this, we’ve been offering elevated takes on American dishes with wine, regional craft beers, and cocktails in a handsome, parlor-like space in the heart of Stowe Village. Today, Harrison's is a place where tourists and locals can enjoy traditional yet creative cuisine in an atmosphere designed to delight. No matter what, when you’re here, you’re among friends. Over the years, we’ve worked hard to build a place perfect for families, date nights, or even kicking back with your favorite drinks. At the end of the day, we love what we do and have a true passion for good food. We hope you’ll join us soon so we can share that passion with you.

"The Kneale family opened Harrison's Restaurant in December of 2003. Their goal was to create a restaurant that was a reflection of their lives growing up and working in Stowe. They wanted a place where locals and visitors alike could enjoy comfortable, creative food in an environment that was casual yet upscale and unique to Stowe. A place where you could meet old friends and new, have a romantic date night out or just to unwind with a nice glass of wine. Over 20 years later, Harrison's is still the place to celebrate an anniversary, a big win in sports, a first date, a birthday, graduation, or a Friday night out with friends. We look forward to celebrating with you soon.."

We just visited Harrison’s for the third time, and it’s amazing every time. My husband and I just had our best meal at Stowe! If you’re traveling to Stowe, make a reservation now because they book up quickly! They do accommodate walk-ins if you get there at 430 pm when they open. They are also only open starting on Wednesdays. Now for what we ordered - the duck wings as an appetizer are truly mind blowing, incredibly crispy, moist, and doused in maple syrup. The Parmesan truffle fries were out of this world and the dipping sauce was amazing. I ordered the sweet potato encrusted salmon which was great, my husband had the seared tuna, both cooked perfectly. The profiteroles for dessert were delicious. The restaurant is incredibly cozy and cute inside. The service is also amazing! We had Anna as our server twice and she is excellent!!!
We had high hopes for this restaurant based on other reviews. Unfortunately, we were not very impressed. Crab cakes were good but very small. Lobster roll was tasty but overpriced. Pork and accompaniments were SO bland. Our server was nice but very busy with a larger party, unfortunately. I assume this place stays in business because of its prime location. However, there are much better options in Stowe if flavor is most important to you.
Harrison's has the best dessert in town, and that's a true compliment! They are truly homemade and exquisite. Can't pick one? Try them all! So worth it.Food: 5/5
First time visiting and im sure it won't be my last! Black magic oysters from canada were great. The steak au poivre was delicious and cooked perfectly. Finished it off with a super tasty profiterole. Sat the bar and got a chance to chat with the bartender who started the restaurant with his mother 18 years ago. Wonderful and cozy little spot with a nice fire roaring in the corner. Definitely reccomend checking them out if you get a chance!
Nestled in the back and underneath an interior design store this might arguably be the best fine dining experience in Stowe - among MANY great places to eat. The dining area downstairs is intimate and trendy and a place you can meet a group or dine with your partner and have a pleasant conversation without competing with other diners or the kitchen. Veal and Trout were expertly prepared. Dessert frozen Mocha cheese cake was split between two and was a nice finish. Plan your exercise next day accordingly. Appetizer, cocktail, beer and wine menus solid. A very upscale yet comfortable eatery. Summer experience: you won’t get a table quickly - reservations a week or so in advance is best. Parking in back is tight but it’s a short walk from more spacious town parking if required. This restaurant is a must if you are coming to Stowe.
Beautiful restaurant in town to visit for a delicious bite to eat! We visited Stowe, VT this past weekend and had a great time! The downtown is small but very cute with a decent amount to do. We stopped into Harrison's for a quick app and cocktail. The restaurant is very beautiful with a rustic feel to it and the menu had a great selection of apps/ entrees. I had ordered the oysters which were very good - we got a dozen at about $3.50 a piece which we thought were reasonable. The oysters were delicious and I really enjoyed the sauce that came with it in addition to your typical cocktail sauce. I also ordered an espresso martini which I thought was also very good. I wish we were able to spend more time at Harrison's but overall, we had a great first visit.
Amazing food. So good. I chose the chicken piccata and it was probably the best dish I’ve ever had in my life hands down. Our server was incredibly nice too and we got everything so quickly! We weren’t sure how to dress but I’d say it is a little on the nicer side. We did see a few people wearing just regular shirts and jeans which didn’t seem out of place or anything. We dressed more on the business casual side but either way would be fine!
The place is small, in a good way, with a warm, cozy atmosphere. The staff was pleasant and cheerful. I got the venison and wow, was that amazing. It basically melted in my mouth and was complemented perfectly by the demi glaze and the blue cheese crumbles. I love blue cheese so I got extra :Food: 5/5
Had dinner here last week. Food: 5/5 We started with a house salad, which was very fresh and crisp. For entrees, we had the chicken piccata and grilled rib eye. Both were hearty and flavorful, with decent portions. We also got the peanut butter pie for dessert, which was a treat. Lastly, the bread to start is fantastic. Service: 5/5 Waiter was very attentive and informative. Food arrived hot and in a timely manner. Vibe: 5/5 Very cozy & dark interior, perfect for winter. We sat at the table looking at the fireplace, which was lovely.
Totally disappointed by this dinner after booking our reservation a month in advance. Lamb chops were not edible — cooked the medium rare like we asked but the meat had no sear & was rubbery in texture. Seemed that they dumped a ton of mustard on top to hide these things. The chicken piccata was similar, but the vegetables for both dishes were horrible. Reminded us of the frozen melody of veggies that you throw in the microwave. Not worth the wait for a reservation or the price tag.
