Amazing! Handicap accessible. Great for kids of all ages. I went with a group of 15 kids ages 6-15 and all were entertained on our guided tour. Very impressive with all exhibits. I definitely recommend a guided tour because she showed us things we otherwise wouldn’t have noticed. Must See!!!! No food /drink in the museum.
This museum has some of the most beautiful and intricately done artwork I've ever seen. Very digestible, but you could also spend hours there if you wanted. The gift shop has very nice items too!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot surePrice for adult entry$6–10
Museum was incredible! Great layout, fantastic representation, and curation. Loved the 3rd floor exhibits. Gift store features products made by local BIPOC small business owners as well as a great selection of childrens books and more. The staff was incredibly friendly. We had luggage to store while we visited and they happily stored our luggage so we could enjoy the museum. I will definitely be back!
The museum has a little something for everyone. Lots of free events. Recently, my husband and I checked out one of these events. They were celebrating the 50-year anniversary of Hip Hop. They also have a nice gift shop. Prices are very reasonable.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot surePrice for adult entryFree
My sister and I were very disappointed in the amount of information they had about the culture. I am only giving a 3starts because of what we see.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$6–10
Visiting Charlotte and saw they were having an open mic, Eclectic Soul Sessions event which was a-ma-zing! The art showcase was great as well. The staff was very helpful and made my museum visit very enjoyable. I would definitely come back again!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitPrice for adult entry$6–10
I was mostly excited to visit this museum to learn more about art that represents my culture. I was disappointed. There is very little artwork. There were several empty canvases on the wall. It took approximately five minutes to view the couple of galleries they have. I wanted to give this museum positive reviews because I really want to support African American artists. However, I believe businesses have a responsibility to give their customers quality for their money. I didn't leave feeling like I had a great experience.
Beautiful art and great event space. Centrally located, but a bit small. I enjoyed the interactive exhibit… though they kept having to reprogram it to get it to work. Overall, I enjoyed my time here and would certainly recommend it to others.Wait timeNo waitPrice for adult entryFree
Amazing exhibits in such a beautiful space!!! I loved how they had both artwork from the present & pieces from the 20th century. The front desk clerk was also very friendly & made sure we had all the information we needed.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitPrice for adult entry$6–10
This museum was awesome. I really enjoyed the men of change exhibit. I do wish there was a bit more art and abstracts in the rest of the museum. Definitely need more black artist to donate to their exhibits. I look forward to visiting again and seeing an expansion on the art exhibits. "MEN OF CHANGE" was a very good exhibit. More importantly the staff was amazing!
