the worse behavioral hospital ever. this is a trap. if you are offered to stay here for “intensive therapy” just know you can not leave whenever you want. The psychiatrist provided at Haven has to approve your release. they will not let you leave even, they will push you away if you want to leave. all they want to do is keep you there for money at this point. Please beware of this place they will not let your loved one go. they will lie and promise you that they will let you go and you end up staying another couple of days. just caused so much stress to my sister and made her mental even worse.
A loved one of mine was a patient in the adolescent unit and had a great experience. She was especially fond of the techs, so I would specifically like to recognize them for their kindness and making a traumatic experience feel safe and secure. Much gratitude to the team!
Did outpatient group therapy here and it went very well! Can discharge at any time, whenever you feel like you're ready. Staff was knowledgeable, helpful, and supportive! The other clients were supportive and great listeners. I learned a lot of beneficial coping skills and was educated well on the nature of mental illness. Only issue was the staff that used to lead the group October 2021 put clients into inpatient due to suicidal ideations, in regard to past situation where client passed from suicide. Some clients didn't need to be in the inpatient hospital!! Was told that inpatient treatment team treats clients well and daily groups/activities are held.
My son was admitted to Haven for 1 week in March. At time of discharge, I was forced to pay over $4K due to fact insurance had not processed yet. I was told that once it processed, I would receive my money back. Insurance processed and payed them for everything in early Apr. I spoke with the Frisco location and they said I would need to call Riley at their corp office to get a refund. I have called numerous times and left multiple messages at corp office but no money refunded and not even a call back. DO NOT give these crooks your money because they will steal it and no one ever answers at corp office. UPDATE. After filing a complaint with my insurance company, the billing office agreed to refund most of the money within 30 days. That was 71 days ago. I just filed a insurance fraud case with the FBI. Will update when this gets resolved.
Decided to take our child to a different facility with better reviews and the admission counselor threatened to call CPS on us. Talk about making a situation worse. DO NOT GO HERE!
I’m only giving this many stars because of a nurse there. My adolescent spoke great things about a nurse called miss Bri. I could say some bad things about this facility and the cost for just a few days is ridiculous. I’m just glad a positive thing is that a worker is there that cares.
Was compelled to write this to warn others who may be considering and have options where they go for their child AND hopes that a Texas medical governing board takes notice. Too much to list here, so purposely summarizing as bullets and limiting the content of our daughter's 5-day stay at Haven: - Intake: Hardware issues with laptop delayed the process. Intake knelt on the ground, because of no chair. Was in training, sleep deprived and did not understand the questionnaire so had me read and help figure out. - Multiple office staff could not locate instructions on how to request medical records. 4 people worked on it, taking 20 minutes. - No family session was ever suggested, contrary to marketing literature. - Security: Sometimes individuals would get checked before entering patient area, including emptying pockets for disallowed items; other times not. - General apathy by many staff. Lots of cussing and gossip by staff, in front of children and parents. - Requests are chronically passed to another team member to never follow through, major accountability issues. - Discharge: again hardware issues led to delay. - Aggresive male counterparts were free to harass more docile patients. - 1 group therapy session per day and a very brief visit from psychiatrist. Very little organized time for actual "recovery"/"treatment". A lot of time left alone or general "rec" time, made it more like a daycare. - Was told could journal but never given journal after repeated requests days - Wanted to discharged early by AMA, but strongly discouraged from doing so. - Medications were sent to a random Walmart pharmacy, without our direction, then asked to switch to CVS, was confirmed they would. In the end, the scripts were never sent anywhere.
Never received "promised services" for my adolescent. No detailed treatment plan, no family therapy session and minimal medication management. Only heard from psychiatrist and nurse practitioner once right after admission. Left multiple messages and got no call back so questions were never answered. They also put my child in the wrong age group which negatively affected treatment. Once again totally disappointed. Getting decent care for my teen has been such a disheartening experience.
Reading all this is alarning ... my child was terrified to be there , that would be hurt, threats, staff not caring and lieing, no dinner but hard bread given in place, mold reported, no locker for personals and keys, wrong info inputed, scripts not sent as directed causing huge inconvenience almost not getting med dose, the only good or best experience was the doctor and new med, patients allowed to controll staff. Request early release.
