NOT THIS YEAR. I am upset and deeply saddened that The LAST and ONLY way we can celebrate a holiday with our dead son has been taken away from us. For 5 years I have mothered my dead son buried at Haven of Rest by decorating the bench We paid for and was installed at our son's grave. But, NOT THIS YEAR. This year we have learned Any and All decorations and treasures will be removed. Only flowers placed in the in-ground planter or a 6 inch pot on the marker are allowed. I am understanding of requirements to allow for landscaping maintenance during the grass growing season, but not allowing us to decorate the bench we purchased or place wreaths during the winter just hurts us. A sterile and bare cemetery is not comforting. Disappointing Haven of Rest, extremely disappointing.
Awful! My parents were to be buried June 30th and our family could only attend if we purchased a grave side service..so we did. We were told their would be a canopy and chairs set up. We scheduled for 2pm but when we arrived nothing was set up. My mothers engraved urn tag was missing. We were not allowed to place urns in ground as planned. Many family/relatives had brought fresh blooms for everyone to place on top urns…that was not allowed. Instead blooms were placed into white vault tubs. When things were finally set up we were given a small tent covering and they placed the wrong flower spray and had to go find the correct spray. If we had known urns could not be placed into ground I think we would have requested use of chapel vs grave side…chapel would have been cooler, easier for elders and more than half the cost. I spoke to Kathy whom said she was sorry we were not given all the facts. So very sad. J Follow up to previous post…owners reached out and were very compassionate and wanted to make things right. We are very impressed with their dedication! J
Truly terrible experience with the funeral director here, and I mean terrible. I accompanied a friend here who tragically lost her husband. She is very young and needed answers for very basic funeral planning services. When she told the director she was not sure what questions to ask, instead of walking us through the process as we expected, he behaved like it was a waste of his time to meet with us. When my friend again said she didn’t know where to begin with planning process, I truly cannot make this up, he told my grieving friend “look you clearly have tunnel vision from your husband’s death, your thoughts are a mess and it’s obvious you don’t know what you want right now. So until you figure it out I’m not sure how I can help you”. We were literally dumbstruck by this callous, patronizing, and disrespectful treatment. To lose a spouse unexpectedly is difficult enough, but to have a funeral director speak this way was downright appalling. If you’d like to experience empathy and support then this is not the place for you. If you’d like to be talked down to by a greasy car salesman, then look no further. I would ask for an apology but frankly I would rather forget the 5 minutes we were in this facility.
Very well-kept grounds and they always put a flag by my grandfathers grave for Veterans day. There is a beautiful skyline view too.
My husband passed at 57 of early onset Alzheimers. The first time I visited My husband’s grave There was four large pieces of plywood covering his grave, his mothers Tombstones and two other tombstones. I talked to the director regarding how the four large pieces of plywood looked. The next time I came there was one large piece of plywood covering just his grave. Both times I was told it was because of the rain. I spoke to the director about how it looked. Once again I was told it was because of the rain. I said that it could look better possibly put some artificial turf or something to make it look better. His response was that I had been the only person to say anything. It has been three days no rain. I came to the cemetery once again. The plywood is gone. Now there’s just dirt. It has almost been three weeks still no grass just dirt. Everything else has been OK. Corissa has been very nice and helpful . She helped me a lot with the obituary and pictures. Ten years ago I made arrangements for my mother-in-law to be buried at Haven of Rest I purchased a grave site for my husband next to his mother. Everything was excellent. Since than 6 family members have made there plans at Haven of Rest.
Has a nice view
Best view for the 4th of July fireworks. Bring the kids and a blanket watch the show & visit your loved ones.
I can't say enough good things about Haven of Rest. Every step of the way, I've been treated with kindness and compassion and their manner in dealing with my mom has been respectful and dignified. When they came to transport Mom and I was a shocked and blubbering mess, their manner calmed me and I knew she was in good hands. When I arrived at Haven for my meeting with Funeral Director Brienna, I was immediately put at ease. Simply, they care and it really shows. Brienna seemed genuinely interested in who my mom was as a person and in providing her with the respect and dignity she deserved. I just got off the phone with Brie and I told her that she is wonderful and she truly is. She's made me feel more at ease during this difficult time. Haven of Rest also provides a space on their website for obituaries where loved ones can add their thoughts. Brienna and her staff can also help with the obit, either taking the information and doing it for you or get you started with ideas and formats. I am just so pleased that I chose Haven of Rest. They've made a very difficult time easier for my family.
My grandfather is there RIP Robert Dale Pry
