We had the BEST service and experience at Winter Haven. It is the perfect location for my needs. I LOVED the color scheme and decor. The historical building with all the art deco elements is very calming and relaxing. The staff from security, valet, housekeeping, and front desk were phenomenal… everyone was helpful, kind, and pleasant. Christina at the front desk greeted us with the biggest smile and took time to be sure we had all the details to take full advantage of our stay. Rooms: Cutest decor… a little small but definitely cozy and perfect for a couple. Safety: Security doorman was a plus Walkability: Quick walk to beach, shopping, and restaurants
This hotel has very mixed reviews and after one night there I understand why. The hotel itself is historical and has very few updates. Bluntly, it could use a facelift. However, the staff - from the front desk to the restaurant servers - are top notch. There is no pool, no gym, but they make the beach experience very easy. I wouldn’t advise you stay here for a long vacation but for one or two nights, it was great.
Great little hotel right on the front steps of the beach. With the resort fee you get 2 beach chairs, towels and the use of bikes. There is not a whole bunch of bikes so plan accordingly. I stayed with there my daughter for a girls getaway and we had a really lovely time. The rooms are small as expected if the area/building style, but lack absolutely nothing. Walking distant to nearly all attractions South Beach has to offer I recommend the botanical gardens. If you do stay here, and you get lucky like we did, you will get Andrew as your front desk clerk, he was so friendly, helpful & informative. We gave the on site Italian restaurant a go, it was good, not amazing but good. Service was great though.
I read the reviews, but decided to give it a chance because of the location. The rooms are definitely on the older courtyard level and mini fridge in my room was so noisy like it was a plane trying to takeoff. Also there’s no soundproof and you hear everything happening in the other rooms and the hall. The following day I found out that the resort fee doesn’t include an umbrella for the beach only the chairs, so you are forced to pay another $25/day in order to actually enjoy the beach. Very dissatisfied
Nice hotel. Good working personal. Just Pillows were too thick. And try not to get the only room on the first floor which is right to the housekeeping and staff rooms. We stayed there 5 nights, and every morning we were woken up early because of the door squinting noise.
We had a really good time at the winterhaven hotel. The rooms are a bit used but the location, beach chairs and bikes were great! Outstanding was the hotelstaff! We especially want to thank Alessandro at the reception! He really is an amazing guy with a great heart! Thank you for your charming hospitality!
I call Winter Haven my south beach secret. Sure there is some sand in the place, yes there is some wear and tear on the nightstand and fridge from usage, but for the price it’s incredible. The shower products are great, the beach chair and towel service is great. EVERYTHING is walkable. I fly in, get an Uber to the place, stay a week, and fly home. You don’t go to south beach for a convention hotel feel, you go to south beach for south beach. The employees of this hotel are kind and helpful. My room was frequently serviced, and the nightlife around this hotel is not so loud that it impacts sleep. I love Winter Haven.
Nice hotel on Ocean Drive. Rooms are a bit dated but this is normal due to the historical architecture. These buildings were built as the first examples of modern architecture.
Staff at this hotel are the most wonderful and helpful people. Definitely five star hotel staff. Unfortunately the hotel beyond the lobby, as in the rooms, is worn down and filthy. I’m not sure where those photos they’re posting on their website are from, but it was definitely not a room we stayed in or one that we had poked our head into walking by. It looks they renovated one or two rooms and that’s what they are promoting. We had a king size Oceanview room. The minute you open the door all you could smell was mold and urine. It doesn’t help with none of the windows open to at least get some fresh air in. There was mold in the bathroom by the shower. The sheets on the bed had stains on them. The carpets were worn right through in some areas and filthy. Even found some gum stuck into the rugs. An absolute spectacular location and a beautiful Art Deco building. Whoever owns this property PLEASE put some money into it. Renovate the bathrooms, rip out the carpet, and put in some windows that you can actually get the ocean breeze through. I’m sure guests would appreciate the new linens and towels as a lot of ours were covered in stains.
Best service ever. Pool available st sister hotel, Blue Moon. Chilled cucumber water, bittled water and champagne available in the lobby. Comfortable bedding. Rooms: On Ocean Drive at 14th Street on South Beach
