The Haverford Township Police Department is a full service law enforcement agency that proudly serves a community of 50,000 residents.
The Township of Haverford Board of Commissioners established a Night Watch and Police Force June 5, 1916. When Ordinance number 77 of 1916 passed, it did “ordain” the Night Watch and Police Force would consist of one Chief of Police and not more than nine Policemen. Our Departmental history shows the first Chief, Edward F. Hallisey. Today our Department consists of one Chief of Police, sixty nine sworn officers and eighty three civilian personnel. Carmen D. Pettine is the twelfth Chief of Police for Haverford Township.
Chief Pettine has a strong belief in community based policing and continues to move our department forward from the Night Watch mentality of the first eighty years of our history to an even more proactive, partnership based community policing model we operate under today.
