Haymarket

Description

Haymarket is an MBTA subway station serving the Green and Orange lines, located at the corner of Congress and New Sudbury streets in downtown Boston, Massachusetts. Haymarket allows transfers between the Orange and Green lines, as does North Station one stop to the north. Haymarket was named for Haymarket Square, which has served as a produce market since around 1830.Unusually, the two subway lines that converge at Haymarket are not stacked vertically underground, but instead are parallel at approximately the same level. The Orange Line access consists of two side platforms to serve the line's two tracks, while the Green Line is served by a single island platform which is divided mostly in half by a wall. Passenger transfers between lines require changing levels via stairs or elevator, so it may be preferable to transfer at more-spacious North Station, which also allows convenient cross-platform transfers for inbound trips. The station is fully wheelchair accessible.HistoryTremont Street SubwayThe Tremont Street Subway (future Green Line), including Haymarket, was built starting in 1894 and opened on September 3, 1898. The original trolley station was much more spacious than the current station, and consisted of four tracks with a pair of island platforms. The inner pair of tracks served cars from the northern suburbs which turned at Brattle Loop at Scollay Square (now Government Center) station, while the outer tracks served streetcars that ran through the entire Tremont Street Subway to the Public Gardens Portal and Pleasant Street Portal. All cars entered the subway through the Canal Street Incline just north of Haymarket.

Definitely the best place to buy cheaper fruits and vegetables! Near to the Haymarket t station, just one corner ahead you already could see the street market! You have to take a look at the whole fruit tent before buying something! There are a lot of fruits on sale, some more ripe then others. I couldn't find any place to park neither a parking lot! Cash only! So bring your changes here! I recommend!
Just examine the produce before buying to make sure it’s still fresh. Great if you like making smoothies. You can also freeze the fruits. They also sell smoothies, donuts, apple cider, maple syrups, fish, herbs and more in the little stalls inside. Great for a little family activity on the weekend. Highly recommend!!!!
Go Friday or Saturday to buy cheapest vegetables and fruits around Boston! The quality is good on Friday morning! Take a trolley with you caz I am sure you are bringing back 2 weeks food so that will be helpful
I used to Love the experience here, now It's nothing special at all. The Public market had a terrible selection. Sad all the Great History is no more. Only good for a tourist to spend about 20 minutes there. All the cool Vendors are gone. It's really Sad in fact.
Really cheap fruits and vegetables. Seems to open till sunset. Prepare cash.
Unbelievable concert venue. Aerosmith back home!! If you can go to a concert here, DO IT.
Do you love outdoor, open air markets? Love fresh seafood? Orchard nurtured fruits? Garden grown fresh vegetables? Don't mind the hustle and bustle of late evening traffic? Look no further! Perfection made manifest
You got what you paid for. I got a box of strawberries for $1 and a bag of avocados for $2. Great deal, right? A lot of the strawberries they sold are partially molded and I actually picked the least molded one. Avocados are still unripe when I got them. A week later, one of the avocados have molded while the others are still hard as rocks. The strawberries still molded despite being washed in a vinegar bath. And it molded FAST. Just pay full price at a local grocery store.
So many choices for sea food, fresh fruit and vegetables!
If you're staying in the area this is the place to grab fruits and veggies. Dollar berries, gorgeous everything. Don't sleep on the oysters either, you can get them shucked right there for half the price of any restaurant nearby.
