If you are rookie, don't come here to deliver, you have to fight to get into dock. My appointment was at 8am, I had to sit in the turning lane from 7am till they opened the gate and waved me in at 8:36am. Atleast the good part is getting out I get to go left then right around the building to the other gate. I am adding pictures of how small this place is and cluttered and how I had to sit at angle while they unloaded me, if they ever get started...other wise they were pretty nice people. Got done unloading at 9:37am, not too bad, but have to wait on someone to move a delivery truck before I can get out of parking lot...thank you guys for unloading fast...
When delivering insulation enter second gate at the end of the building. If arriving when they open the gate will not be open it will be around 30 mins to an hour before they have everything set up and out of the way to pull in. Park in the turn lane with hazards on by the gate on the road while waiting. Dock for insulation is the very first one on the left when entering. Very tight backing in but possible just take your time. Unloaded in less than an hour when you get docked. Arrived at 7:30, departed around 9:30. Employees helpful and friendly.
Knowing that there is a 7 am. Sound ordinance and sending your trucks out at 6a.m. to deliver is not just completey rude but a blatant disregard for laws and ordinance established in Asheville city limits and Buncombe county. Absolutely disrespectful.
I asked the delivery driver to deliver our large load of lumber to a specific area outside our new build. He replied saying he would be happy to as long as I would agree to go on a date with him. I brushed it off as a joke. But he wasn’t joking. He was just a dirty old man twice my age. He got mad when I didn’t respond like he wanted and literally dumped an entire load of trusses on the ground nowhere near where it needed to go a neighbors property. When we called into the office to complain we were told it was best to take our business elsewhere going forward. Our family had been customers for nearly 40 years.
Very helpful but did not come close on price for doors. Wanted to buy here but Lowe's was much cheaper. I will try again when I need some lumber.
A delivery driver with building materials we ordered showed-up two weeks before the scheduled deliver date. I told him that he couldn't deliver the materials. The driver then told me "he was there and he was going to deliver the materials". I guess it didn't matter that we had no place for the materials. He then proceeded to childishly call me names. I'll order my building materials elsewhere.
They botched my initial order. The full order was not ready at pickup. After acknowledging the inconvenience involved in having to make a return trip, Sherry hung up on me stating they were to busy. Funny, I thought as a paying customer, my concerns are part of their business and them being busy. They charged my credit card full price despite not providing the full order. They refused to give me a discount for the inconvenience of having to make a second trip.
Decided to stop by this store because it was the most convenient place to pick up some LVL’s and a box of framing nails for a home we are building. Couldn’t believe the audacity of the salesperson asking for our business right after charging us nearly double what we usually pay from Jennings Builders Supply in Fletcher. Even the box of framing nails we purchased is a little more than half as much money and in-stock at Home Depot. Price gouging at its finest folks, I would recommend taking your money elsewhere.
Trying to buy a product that was specified to me as available from my local distributor by the manufacturer as BFS Asheville. Starting with the counter salesman, all I got was reasons why he could not help: too busy, not familiar with the product, I did not have an open account with them, and transferred to a voicemail when I said I may open an account if he can get the items, "they cannot special order on less than $500" before it is known how much the product costs, and his statement that he didn't even know how to begin when I offered the phone number of the manufacturer for the item. Called back after the voicemail transfer to no one and asked for store manager - he defended his salesman and I said couldn't you look into getting the product for me and call back. He took my name and number then proceeded to tell me that the quantity I needed would not meet their minimum order $ again before looking into the price. This company is not willing to help anyone unless they buy large commercial quantities. Very unprofessional and rude!
I contacted BFS Asheville about getting some insulation installed in my basement/crawlspace. I was told a month ago that they would set up a time in a couple of days to give me an estimate. Still no call. If they had taken the time to actually talk with me they would know that I'm actually a builder with several projects within five miles of their store. If this is the professionalism and courtesy they give to someone who they think is a homeowner with a small project it must also be the same treatment that you would receive using them as a supplier and subcontractor.
