The Jankowski building was built in 1929 and originally housed a candy store and a beauty salon. By 1958, when Hank Rutkowski purchased the building, the storefronts had been converted into the bar, then called "Guy's". In the '70s, Coach Hojanacki of St Ladislaus bought the bar and gave it the name it has today.
By 1983, the bar had been sold several times, and then Hank Rutkowski took possession of it in lieu of unpaid rent. He sold the Head Coach to his daughter, Diane. Diane continues the tradition, serving a good shot and inexpensive beer 7 days per week.
