Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese therapy that has proved successful over thousands of years. Medical acupuncture is an adaptation of traditional acupuncture based on western and evidence-based medicine.
VSMT, or veterinary chiropractic and/or Acupuncture is indicated in situations where your pet (dog, cat, or horse!) may have a lameness or difficulty getting up and down and is not responding to prescribed treatment as expected or you are looking for alternative therapy options. VSMT and acupuncture are also indicated in geriatric pets with behavior or mood changes and may be helpful in post-surgical cases, such as cruciate injuries. VSMT may also very helpful in athletic patients, to hopefully prevent any debilitating injuries from occurring and improve performance.
A consultation consists of evaluating your pet's history, intended use/athleticism, and prior tests and x-rays. The chiropractic or acupuncture exam includes a full neurological exam, stance and gait analysis, and motion and static palpation of the joints in the limbs and along the spine.
