HIA, part of UC Berkeley's School of Public Health, is a binational and collaborative strategy to reduce health disparities among the underserved latino migrant community in the United States.
Our mission is to coordinate and optimize resources in the U.S., Mexico, and other Latin American countries to reduce health disparities, increase access to and use of health services, and implement innovative strategies to address the unmet health needs of migrant populations. The initiative fosters collaboration between the research communities of participating countries and establishes cross‐border working relationships among government agencies and community‐based organizations. After ten years of operation, HIA has become an international leader in developing innovative approaches to public health and health care for mobile underserved populations.
