"Fighting Hunger - Feeding Hope!"
Heart of Compassion provides many services as part of its missions to demonstrating love-both spiritually and physically-through the distribution of life essentials for the total person.
We distribute to 100 organizations such as food banks, shelters, veterans, seniors, city and school programs throughout the Southern California area. We do this by providing fresh fruits, vegetables and other nutritional foods, also when available furniture and clothing to the less fortunate. In 2011-2012 H.O.C. provided $33.3million dollars of food and merchandise all at no cost.

The success of Heart of Compassion has always depended on the goodness of others and the faithfulness of God. Because of God's faithfulness, despite the many weeks when we despaired of attaining enough food to distribute, we always did. And, without the dedication of our devoted volunteers most of our efforts on behalf of the needy could never have happened. We could never repay the hundreds of volunteers required to fulfill our mission. Their gift of time and energy continues to be a major blessing to many..
As evident from our history, HOC wasn't planned; it evolved. We weren't up all night talking about what we could do if only we had the funds. While others talked about it, WE JUST DID IT.
Nevertheless, we have reached a pivotal time in our development. The fact is: We need YOUR help to continue!
The mission for Heart of Compassion is to fight hunger by meeting the immediate food insecurity needs of communities through working with local officials and residents to develop a sustainable program leading to self reliance and independence.
Fighting Hunger - Feeding Hope is to restore and transform communities impacted by hunger and poverty into communities of hope and self reliance.
GOALS:
To be a resource center for the needy, providing food, clothing, and general merchandise.
To network with other organizations, helping them provide resources for those in need in their own communities.
To assist those most in need, including battered and abused women, single parents, seniors, rehabilitation centers, child care centers and veterans, as well as missions in areas such as Mexico, Venezuela and Guatemala.
To develop training programs, equipping other organizations in the effective distribution of food..
To become an emergency family assistance center, providing emergency resources to families in crisis.
To conduct monthly citywide outreaches demonstrating God's love in a tangible way, by providing food, clothing, medical assistance, bands, and counselors to nourish the physical and spiritual needs of the community
To fulfill our ultimate vision, transcending the distribution of food and merchandise to encompass all that is implied by "helping those in need." In many ways, this broader mission has already begun, and is embodied in our acronym:
Housing Occupational Training and Community Development
