"Why Essential oils?" you might ask. I asked myself the same question once. I wondered about all the hype and thought that this was surely a fad or something that some crazy, so-called "tree-huggers" did as part of their earth-worshiping lifestyle. Then, one day, someone sent me a sample pack of oils (Lavender, Lemon and Peppermint) in the mail. I was a skeptic and put it in a drawer and didn't touch it for several months. To this day, I still don't know who to thank for sending it, but I'm grateful now for that initial introduction to the products. I have found since then that: essential oils are not a passing fad but have been around since the beginning of time; not all “tree-huggers” are crazy and that protecting the environment is actually something I have come to value; and, using products that are healthy and all-natural will not only make you feel better, but will enhance your spiritual walk and give you a much more positive outlook on life.
My first use of oils was not for me, however, but for my dog!! I had heard of the calming effects of Lavender, so when a dog of ours was having severe anxiety and restlessness, I decided that he would be the guinea pig for my oil "experiment". I applied the oil to our pet and lo and behold, IT REALLY WORKED!! He calmed down immediately and was able to sleep soundly. Soon, we were using it on ourselves and having the same results.
Once I realized that this was not a hoax, I decided to do my due diligence and research and investigate further. What I found was nothing short of AMAZING! The testimonies of people receiving all natural health benefits and healing in their bodies from using the oils that God placed here on earth for us to use helped turn my life around.
At first, when I started with dOTERRA, I thought it was so expensive, but then I began to realize that compared to the monthly costs of prescription drugs and doctor visits, you get WAY more for your money using oils and you don't have to worry about putting harmful chemical compounds in your body. The saying "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" is true when referring to essential oils. It may cost a little up front, but the small amount you use will cause a bottle to outlast your prescription refills 10 to 1 AND a bottle of oil can often benefit and help treat multiple ailments!
Since that first time using Lavender Oil, I have added dozens of oils to my "medicine chest". Just last week, my new 2 week old grandson was having terrible gas pains and was crying and unable to sleep. A few drops of dOTERRA digestive blend on his tummy and feet and he calmed down, the pain went away and he is able to virtually sleep all night long. We use the single oils and oil blends now for most every ailment that might come our way. So, take my word for it, if you use oils properly and faithfully, you can't go wrong. You will live a much happier, healthier and more productive life.
