Description

The Taylor Cunningham Hotel — now called the Hermitage Motor Inn — is an historic lodge in Petersburg, Grant County, West Virginia, USA. It was built about 1840, and was originally a two-story brick building in a vernacular Greek Revival style. A third story was added in the early 20th century. It features a two-story porch with turned post and balusters. It has been in continuous operation as an inn since 1881. Also on the property are the contributing wagon shed, storage cellar with granary above, log stable, and smokehouse.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Very clean and also smelled fresh and clean, considering the intense cleaning spots on carpet from pet accidents, but odor free Very well lit up outside. TV worked well along with the heat , A/C unit., on this cool damp and rainy night. Shower/ tub was clean and the water was hot. The wi fi worked well and the management was friendly. Sign outside office door said mask required, which is understandable as the office check in area is small. All in all with the easy on and off of I-95 and adjacent to gas station/ convenience store with beer cave make this motor lodge worth staying at. We stayed with our 2 small dogs and the pet charge was fair and respectfully understood as their was no pet dander present , until we left. My wife is a retired maid for a white glove cleaning service and said is was only worth 3 1/2 stars as the wall edges had dust and need to be vacuumed with an edge attachment and the high part of the mirror was smudged

Very rude attendant at the front desk. When I mentioned I had a small dog she became insultingly rude. If you have a no pet rule…. Okay, I get it. Just say so. But don’t chastise me. Left without even checking in. In looking at other reviews it’s probably best I didn’t stay. Myself and my pup probably would have caught something we didn’t want from there.
They have bed bugs. Poor room cleaning. Looks like it's barely maintained at all. I personally don't recommend to anybody. Not just that but they only have one room for dogs and there signs say 10 dollars a dog they was gonna charge 20. They place had maggots that came from under the ac vent when the trash was taken off. It was gross.
Would not recommend to hotel/motel. I went in office to obtain a room for the evening. I told the woman on duty that I had 6 chihuahuas. She said and I quote " NO I won't give you a room 6 dogs that's not happening. Her loss, my gain. My 6 chihuahuas are so well behaved and keep their manners while we are traveling. They do not make messes When I took a photo of the hotel sign, she screamed out the door and told me to make sure I tell everyone I have 6 Chihuahuas. I would not recommend this hotel/motel- Lodge Thumbs Down for sure !!!!
Horrible experience.i do not recommend this place The guy at the front desk was beyond rude. Im traveling with family and we needed to stop for the night being tired and it storming bad. The place looked nice on the outside so we decided to stop. Went in asked for a room with 2 beds. He asked how many people I replied and said 4. He then was yelling at me about how to fill the paper out. After being rude for a couple minutes He then said you want a smoking room right. I nicely told him no. Then he seemed annoyed and reminded me to make sure only 4 people go in the room. And then went on to tell me to make sure i keep the room clean. Finally get to the room my daughter goes to take a shower and there is not a single towel in the room , one bed had no pillowcases on it and the other bed sheets looked a bit dirty. . although the rest if the room looked clean we just wanted to get to sleep and get out of there. As we are leaving he stands there watching us like hes making sure it was just the 4 of us. Did not feel comfortable at all nor did my children

I have been staying there off and on for over a year and have seen the quality of the place, rooms, service and attitude of the owner decline steadily. One of the rooms given me someone overdosed in. It has become a den of iniquity with rampant and obvious vices occurring constantly. I would not recommend this place for any reason. The price just jumped 20% overnight.
When you're​ on the road and need a bed, and want to spend the least possible, what do you expect? The sheets and towels were clean. The room was large, the bathroom small. The water pressure surprisingly strong. So the phone is from 1975, the lock on the door couldn't stop a child and the floor looks a little dirty? I didn't see any bugs and I made it through the night intact.
