I'm giving this place 5 stars. I too went here for cataract surgery. My surgery was scheduled for 1:20 pm, which I was not keen about, but left the appointment as it was. I was concerned that as the day grew longer, there was more opportunity for things to happen that knock a schedule out. And I was not wrong. I did not get into surgery until 5:15, due to issues with the patient before me, but everyone was attentive and explained what was going on. They also contacted my waiting husband and let him into the facility to use the rest room. My doc is great, and gave me the option of rescheduling but was willing to stay and get the surgery done despite the late hour. The nursing staff stayed OT and there were no gripes or complaints. A job well done by all!
None of the doctors listen to you when you express a concern. They just do whatever they want instead. Dr little John is a horrible doctor. Do not see him. As well as the anesthesiologist. If you go here you’ll be in more pain and discomfort when you wake up
The medical service at this Center was good, however, the Billing Department has NO clue what they are doing. I came in for a procedure, that I now come to find out, is almost never covered by insurance. The first time I talked to Billing Department, they led me to believe that the procedure would be covered by my insurance. When I found out it wasn’t going to be covered, they led me to believe that my application for financial aid for Penn State Hershey Medicine would cover the procedure, only to find out later that they are not affiliated with Penn State Hershey Medicine and they don’t even offer financial aid. This whole process of back and forth with them about the insurance coverage and financial aid took about 5 months, all of which could’ve been solved by them telling me, your insurance will not cover this, and we do not offer financial aid. So when I finally got stuck with the $900 bill, they told me I had 1 month to pay it all, since it was due 5 months prior or it would go to collections.
This place is hit or miss that’s why I gave a 3 star. Everyone I had 5-26-22 were absolutely wonderful, nurses, etc. but the one receptionist needed an attitude adjustment real quick I did not like her attitude what so ever. She needs to treat the patient with a little bit of respect. Karen from scheduling never really gave me a time for my procedure regardless I was at work can't answer the phone she went “call me back” on my voicemail could have left the time on my voicemail and called back before leaving for the day and when I called back the outpatient surgery center was closed. I had to call patient relations and tell them about it to have the receptionist call me at 6:30am because I live a good distance away from Hershey, Pa. I have had multiple procedures here which everyone was nice including the anesthesiologist I had but the one guy down there wearing a poker head cap also had an attitude with me and he was actually working with the patients is that how he should be treating the patients. This was 3-10-22 when I encountered this. Plus all the times I needed an IV Sherry was nice but I don’t think she knows what she is doing as far as placing an IV, if she is comfortable doing one way then do it that way all the time don’t try to put an IV in if you’re not comfortable with were you are placing it so that person doesn’t have bruises on Their body and then you wouldn’t have to stick twice plus I feel bad for the people she is training because then they are going to think it is ok to stick twice and then they would get more complaints and multiple times their iPad sign in system never worked and the receptionist would get mad because you had to bug them about that. It is also annoying for the patients because they tell use to sign in and it doesn’t work so what is the point of having it.
Overall I had a great experience. The nurses were very kindhearted and gentle with me throughout my surgery. My doctor explained everything to me clearly in a way that I could understand. It was a clean environment. And I am very thankful the doctors and nurses who assisted in my outpatient procedure.
What a horrible experience! They told us to be there at 10:20a.m for my boyfriends cataract surgery. Took him back to pre op at 10:37. It’s now 1:10 pm and he still is sitting and waiting! I’ve been sitting in hot car in full sun! No phone call no explanations, no estimated time for surgery! Our dogs meanwhile sit at home with no body to let them out bc we were scheduled at 10:20 for an hour long surgery! Thanks for nothing Hershey. As usual, you are a huge disappointment with not a care for your patients!
All staff very kind and courteous. Very little wait time to go back for procedure. Nurses and anesthesiologists very skilled. Highly recommend!
The receptionists aren't very helpful. It's been two hours since my son was called back for his procedure and when I asked them the status, they said they don't know anything and they didn't offer to find out anything for me. My son's friend came in an hour later for the same procedure and his wife had already been called back.
They must be getting a kickback from Hershey pharmacy. They refused to send my wifes prescription to my normal pharmacist and insisted it get sent to Hershey pharmacy next door instead because "it's closer"
I was there alittle early for my son sugergy but he went back ten minutes later. The whole staff was great. We were out of recovery fairly quickly. Just wish they had a cafeteria instead of vending machines.
