Horrible experience! We had a reservation for a small SUV, but the lady at the counter told us that she could not „honor“ our reservation – whatever that means. She then told us to drive to Albany airport to get a car as they might still have one – no joke! When I told her that we didn‘t have a car to drive there I know, what a surprise!, she just said we should get a taxi which Hertz would of course not pay for. She then got quite aggressive, especially because all the other customers in the room were in the same situation, and repeatedly told us that she gave us an alternative and that we should be happy with that. I don‘t know how we can have a reservation without Hertz having enough cars to „honor“ those reservations, but I seriously warn all of you to ever renting a car at that place! Go to Enterprise, they are supposed to be more professional and cooperative.
A series of terrible interactions. Woman at desk, Amber, extremely unpleasant. Upon entering she quickly yelled at my father for taking a step into “the bay”, Not kindly asking him to not be there, but yelled at him. Then our vehicle wasn’t ready, even though I called 3 hours prior to make sure a vehicle would be present. We were then told we needed to “leave the building now” so she could leave to get our car. When she came back with the vehicle, 30 minutes later, my husband followed in behind her and she had no courtesy to hold the door for him and just let the door slam behind her. Our reservation was placed via Expedia & I had an email confirmation. She then discovered there was a ‘problem w reservation’, and they were unable to fulfill it. She told us she could do nothing about it and I must call customer support. Husband then spent 45 minutes w customer support and they offered us a new reservation that was $150 more than current reservation that I already had. After 2 hours, and no car, we left very unhappy.
Horrible Customer Service!!! I had a reservation to pick up a car at 1pm. No cars were available. At 4pm I was told they would have a car for me. The lady told me she had to go pick up the car that was getting an oil change. She asked me to step outside the building and wait outside because she had to lock up. When she arrived with the car I was told I had to wait until she cleaned the car! This is totally crazy! Hertz you need to hire more people and improve your customer service!!!!
Had no issues of getting the rental but this place is definitely a 1 star due to obtaining the car it was dirty inside. And being told that they will charge me if returned dirty. LET ME INFORM YOU WHAT I HAD FOUND IN MY RENTAL. I had found the following items: 3 glow sticks, 3 empty water bottles, a 2T t-shirt with tags on it, goldfish crackers, AND let's save the best for last yall A NASTY DIRTY PAIR OF FEMALE UNDERWEAR!!!!! I will NEVER again do business with HERTS. That is beyond gross!
This was the single worst car rental experience of my life. Rented from Newark for a one way 3 hour drive to drop off in Pittsfield. They rented me a car with broken and completely ineffective windshield wipers see photos in the pitch black and pouring rain. Couldn’t tell until I left the rental garage, of course, and since no hertz was open on the way, and nowhere to buy wipers was open, this was how I got to spend 3 terrifying hours, in this incredibly unsafe vehicle. On top of that, they charged me for a full tank of fuel when I never selected that option and returned the car full, like I always do. I have written to Hertz CS as well as left a handwritten note with hertz in Pittsfield about this experience and have yet to get a response 3 days later. It’s actually pretty funny how you cannot get a human on the phone no matter what number you call. Extra funny that their automated system even has a button for if you did *not* select a full tank fuel purchase but got charged anyway, and how you need to prove you filled the car up right before returning the full tank isn’t enough I guess? I will never use hertz again. My company will never use hertz again. Still waiting for a response and a refund.
So unorganized and unprofessional. I had a reservation for pick up at 1:00. No car available. Waited 2 hours, she had to drive to the airport to get a car while I waited! Very upset with service!
Understaffed, really old and dirty fleet. Straight up bad service. Not necessarily the fault of the one person working there, but it’s just bad. Go nearby to one of the other rental companies and save yourself the trouble.
Customer service here is ridiculous. Nobody answers the phone or they put you on hold forever. Never call to confirm drop off times. Dropped my rental off last week to the auto body shop where I picked it up and it’s STILL sitting there almost a week later! Need better employees
Amber at the pittsfield location remained calm witty and focused when dealing with multiple customers near to closing time. She held good spirits which made the time it took to get officially settled into a rental more acceptable. Car was clean!
Amber and Eric are amazing! Very personable and super helpful. All charges/fees were explained in detail, vehicle was exceptionally clean. I will definitely be returning and renting from them again.
