Inflation has ruined the price of fun. But all in all. A nice little hidden gym. Clean. Friendly. We just came for a swim day. Wouldn’t say I’d make the 1.5hr drive again though unless we’re camping there. And even still swimming isn’t included in the price of your camp ‍
We stayed at Hidden Paradise for two nights through the week. Arriving Tuesday afternoon and leaving Thursday morning. We booked site 74 right on the river. Our site was small but very nice. The grass was in good shape and it was fairly level. Luckily the sites to the left and right of us were not booked and I was able to maneuver the travel trailer into place easily. I can imagine that on a busy weekend getting your rig into place on the river sites could be a bit of hassle. The sites are tight and in order to park parallel with the river and have your door facing it you must pull either through the sites next to you or be a hell of driver. We had several trees on our site so we weren’t able to use our awning, but the trees offered plenty of shade so it wasn’t an issue. Water and electric were very close. I only used one 25ft lol water hose and 30amp electric cord. You share a water supply with the site next to you. So if you book an odd number site on the river be prepared to have a little bit longer run of water hose and electric cord. The campground it’s self is very large and they have several sites, and several seasonal sites. Some of the sites are well spaced out and large while others are a little cramped. The river is very nice. It’s not a large river and I would classify it more as a large creek. You could easily walk it if you like. I think most people tube down it. It seemed clean and we saw several fish. We utilized the walking trails around the campground and saw some scenic views of rock cliffs and small ponds. The campground has two shower/bathroom houses, both are located right next to each other in the center of the campground. From some of the sites the walk to the bath house could be a tad far. One of the bath houses is older but appeared to be well maintained and clean. The other seemed newer or freshly renovated. It offered private shower rooms with a restroom and sink inside. The showers were very large and spacious and had ice cold a/c. This shower house was also very clean and well maintained. The camp store had everything you could need and then some. The playground was nice and during our stay they were doing updates to it. The quarry was clean and clear. There’s no beach area so don’t get the idea that you’ll be hanging out lake side in your beach chair enjoying a beverage. It’s all docks and floating obstacles. Perfect for the kids. You do have to pay extra for lake access, but if you’re camping it’s reasonable. They have a newer dump station with dual access in the rear of the campground as well as an older dump station along the exit road. The campground also had decent WiFi that I was able to use to stream movies. This could be due to us being the only occupants at the campground at the time. I’m assuming performance drops when the campground is full. Bottom line we booked this campground to stay along the river and just relax, and it didn’t disappoint. I will say that if you have smaller children that require closer attention you may want to look elsewhere just due to how the quarry is set up and not having an actual beach. If your kids are older and you can let them roam around and do their things while you chill at the campsite then Hidden Paradise is perfect. I imagine that this place fills up on the weekends, especially during the summer. The sites are tight and I could see maneuverability being difficult if the campground is crowded, just something to think about. We enjoyed our time and I do think we would return.
It was a great weekend! We arrived late, after the office had closed, but literally waited no time for someone to arrive and check us in. We were in site 169. The lot was spacious! The camp store had lots of things available. The swimming inflatables were fun. Next visit, we plan to bring tubes to float down the river. While it seemed geared to families, the park didn't seem rowdy down in our area, very peaceful and relaxing. We will definitely be back.
The name says it, a real Hidden Paradise. Everyone was so nice, helpful. Felt so welcomed by the staff and other camper's. It's a lot bigger then just a RV/campgrounds. Fishing was good, peaceful, well taken care of, a ton of water activities were being set up and anchored when I was there swimming, water toys, kayaking and a well stocked camp store which came in very handy. I just can't say enough the bath house / shower house restrooms were immaculately taken care of. Golf carts are available for rental and free wifi great signal/speed Located in a nice small town St Paul, Indiana with gas stations, Family Dollar store of course and a nice bar/restaurant good food all within a few mins from the campgrounds. Absolutely amazing place I will be back! Thank you all to the staff you guys are awesome
Very Very Strict! We got pulled over three times for going 8 in a 6 downhill.Check in took a long time even thought there was a bunch of staff. When talking to employees they not very polite. Very strict on curfew/quiet time. The showers were cold and wasn’t enough for how big the campground is The bathroom is very very far away, there is only one bathroom site and it was super far. One was not usable the whole time. The security guard was very impolite. But it is a very family friendly campground. The firework show is good. The river is nice to go down. Alright karaoke, good campground layout, and the quarry was fun.
Very nice campground. Staff is amazing and very helpful. Will be coming back next summer to spend more time here!
Cost a fortune to pay to keep the camper there… Pricing doesn’t include swimming No pool We had paid through the end of the year moved some of our items … kayak, lawnmower, numerous other items were taken prior to us being able to get them! No thanks!
This was our second year staying for an annual camping trip with a large group. The camping area was great. It is a clean and quiet campground. The Quarry is clean and the water is refreshing. The reason for 2 star review… 1. Swimming is NOT included. While this wouldn’t have been a big deal.. we asked, the blonde young staff member checking us in, three separate times if we needed to buy bands and fill out the paperwork to swim: We were told “No, these bands are good for swimming and camping.” We were down at the Quarry all day Friday, with staff watching, and even talking to us. Not a word about the band. Come Saturday, we were told we needed to buy bands and that we were practically lying until we pointed out the girl who told us. She just shrugged her shoulders and said she didn’t say it until another part of our group confirmed the same thing was said to them. Again buying it wasn’t an issue, it was the miscommunication. 2. I, personally, fell and really hurt my wrist and back walking to the dock to go swimming. Another person fell and hurt their ankle. Staff just watched it happen and not a word said. After another six people slipped, they finally added some carpet to make it non slip. But people were still slipping and the one young blonde staff member was laughing while people were getting hurt. 3. You canNOT have any drinks on the dock, including water. Which is insane in this hot weather. I can totally understand food but not water. We watched a woman who was pregnant get over heated and pass out on the stairs. We then listened to a staff member yell that “she must be DRUNK?!?” Then when told “no she’s 18 weeks pregnant.” She again loudly said and threw her hands up in the air and said “SHE MUST BE DRUNK.” 4. Staff picked and chose who they make follow the rules and who could speed through the campground. 5. The bathrooms were DISGUSTING. They smelled and had toilet paper all over the ground. One shower didn’t work and it was just gross. When a staff member was told they said “that’s not my job.” And walked away. 6. Again staff picked and chose who could have small pools and who couldn’t. Water usage was monitored and sent out when you used too much. Then watched as staff talked to other campers as they were just filling up another pool. 7. The float toys in the quarry are too close. There were so many close calls of people getting hurt. The staff would “try” to get people off but it was dependent of who was on there. There was a young gentleman staff member who told kids to “get the h*ll” off the trampoline. 8. They allow day passes to come in. Which again it’s their business and they need to make money, but the campground was pretty full and it made it hard to find parking and swim comfortably with so many people. We honestly thought this would be a campground we would frequently a lot, but after this weekend’s experience.. we won’t return.
Although it has been raining, we did have one day of sun. It’s sooo peaceful here. There’s a river. You can rent kayaks, paddle boats, and swim when it’s summer. There have nice showers and a place to do laundry. Also, you can bring your rv, camp or rent a cabin. Def a hidden paradise
This is an excellent camping area lots to do. Very friendly staff. Clean, we have a 40ft class A the road in was small but had no problem. It is a place I would love to spend a few weeks at.
