FACTRI A “Makers and Hackers” training & business incubation center with a non-exclusive focus on creating furnishings for home and business.
The Furniture, Arts, Crafts & Technology Revitalization Initiative, FACTRI, will help facilitate local economic and urban development by fostering a local decorative arts, furnishings and design revival movement, as well as a culture of entrepreneurship and creativity. Blending old and new, the FACTRI will be both a modern membership organization for Makers and Hackers. as well as a campus that will provide training in the spirit of the original Arts and Crafts movement of the late 1800s. In this way the FACTRI will engage people in traditional arts and crafts approaches, complemented by cutting edge technologies, to promote maximal synergy between “makers” and ”hackers”. The FACTRI will be a place where some people can design products that will fit into High Point's long-standing tradition of furniture manufacturing, while others may come up with ideas, and designs, that take local manufacturing in a whole new direction.
