I had the honor and pleasure of meeting Heidi Smith, the Highland Park Library Director way outside of the traditional library setting and Highland Park? You have yourself a gem. Thank you Heidi! -Ann #librarianlove
This is a wonderful little library, with a lot of charm. Easy access with parking underground, handicap accessible at all entrances, there is a large children's area that is often full of little ones exploring and being read to. I have to say I only come with my 2 year old, so I cannot comment on the adult section.
Great place to get some work done for a few hours. They seem to have sufficient selection of books and movies as well. For me, the biggest draw is that there is plenty of parking and plenty of space to work. There's the occasional quiet chatter going on from the desks but nothing to distract you. If you desire absolute silence bring some headphones and you'll be fine. Highly recommend it!
Welcoming staff, nice quiet, well maintained library.
I love libraries and this is truly one of the best...I have frequented some of the great libraries in Boston, DC, NYC, Chicago and London to provide some backdrop. The original section is wonderful classic...right down to large fireplaces under vaulted ceilings. The staff is wonderful! Knowledgeable, friendly w/ great personalities. The IT support staff is second to none. I have never seen such a gifted technical crew in a public facility. I would strongly advise making the HP Library a "Destination". Besides the Library there are these wonderful gardens immediately adjacent. THREE THUMBS UP!
I just finished The Girl In His Shadow. This is a book I probably never would have read without the strong recommendation. It was wonderful. Thank you for the suggestion
All the library staff are welcoming courteous, knowledgeable, helpful and extremely patient..... prepared to search far and wide for any requests... definitely saved the Day during covid...I get ongoing endless pleasure from the library....kudos to all involved
Cheerfully serves a lot of Highwood residents like me and tons of kids. Cool building, fun special events, and the best graphic novel collection by far I’ve ever seen in a library.
Great selection of books for my 9 year old. He loves going in once in a while to explore and borrow books and movies.
Great library, so many services and programs. Would be awesome to lift fines, as it has detracted me from borrowing for fear of returning items late. Thank you for all you do, library team!
