I've seen patients get special privileges that other patients don't get based on their income; and I personally had all my clothes, iPad, blanket, teddy bear, and personal items get taken away because I refused to get a 3rd COVID vaccine. I wouldn't recommend Hillel Lodge to anybody. I've also seen them lock residents outside all night long because they didn't make curfew.
Terrible staff and management. Medical care is provided based on income. Richer patients are allowed to do things that poorer patients aren't. I wouldn't recommend Hillel Lodge to anybody.
Great disappointment that the Jewish community in Ottawa does not have an establishment where the elderly people, especially vulnerable can be looked after with concern and dignity. Former Hillel Lodge management due to their indifference and incompetence, were not able to provide a properly organized service. Moreover, they allowed incidents of abuse and physical violence against residents, while concealing such shameful phenomena. Lacking the proper level of training and competence, they took responsibility for making fateful decisions and influenced decision-making related to medical indications, thereby causing significant harm. Elderly who are unable take care themselves seek help, concern and professional nursing. Of course, most of the relatives have no special education and it was easy to mislead them. Many did not have enough time to be constantly around. They were judged only by cleanliness. But cleanliness is far from everything. Especially when the resident wears the same diapers all day. But they have developed a habit of "professionally" lying and misleading of the relatives. All this was the result of disgusting phenomena. Numbers of publishing in newspapers was an editor's choices among many outrages that do not lie on the surface, but become apparent when you look closely. A lot of negligence, staff with low level of training and misapprehension who they are working with. This is especially vulnerable to those elderly who needs extra attention and care, when the price of foolish mistakes cost of life. Many inspections carried out by the Ministry of Health and Long-term Care in order to investigate complaints, numerous written orders and notices made by inspectors see reports on the Ministry's website did not lead to improvement, as the same violation of license conditions were found over and over again. Not only individuals in management are subject to review, but also the board of directors since the mission of the institution was not fulfilled.
How fortunate Ottawa is to have Hillel Lodge. How fortunate I was to have my Mother live there. The professionalism and dedication of the staff and the quality and cleanliness of the Lodge, provided great comfort to my family.
The lodge takes care of seniors who are having difficulty taking care of themselves at home.Hillel lodge's Staff are very understanding to to the needs and differences for all the residents. We are very lucky to have a Hillel lodge in this in our community..
I am disgusted at the reprehensible way you treated this poor woman who overcame terrible obstacles in life just to be treated like this at a so called faith based organization. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. I feel her son's pain as my mother was in a residence in Montreal for 9 years and was treated with nothing but respect and kindness.
I have long been impressed by the very kind and compassionate care to our relatives here at the Lodge.
The staff are caring and compassionate and provide excellent care in an up-to-date facility.
I'd put 0 stars if I could. Locked a sick resident outside at 4 am and denied entry.
Terrible management staff and Human Resources wouldn’t advise ever working there.
