The location is great. The hotel is right on the beach, which is why I booked our vacation here. The rooms are in desperate need of renovation. Our room smelled like mildew when we checked in and there was obvious mold on the ceiling see picture. When I turned the air down to cool the room, the bed and floor became wet with moisture. We complained to the front desk the next morning, and they sent someone up to check the unit. The unit cools fine but isn't supposed to be putting out moisture. We were told we'd hear back but never heard anything else from the desk or manager. The humidity in our room was so bad that nothing could get dry, not the swimsuits, the towels, or our hair. Thank goodness I packed multiple pairs of swimsuits! And since i couldn't turn the air down, it was also uncomfortably hot. I will not stay here again or recommend this hotel to anyone. The last picture is the indoor pool door. The doors don't look operable. They are rusted and have holes in them. It was like a sauna in here everyday. The doors need to be replaced and opened to let the hot air and humidity out the pool area. Also when it rained the rain was coming through the closed windows of the indoor pool. The hotel needs extensive repairs. Side note: the lobby was beautiful and well maintained.
I’m not quite understanding the negative reviews of this resort. I am a world traveler and have many resort stays to compare this too. I found this resort to be a gem. Free covered parking, bags delivered to the room and efficient check in procedures. Spacious, clean rooms all with furnished private balconies. Three large pools immaculately kept with delightful food and drink service. Easy access to the beach with chair service offered or you can proved your own. There is a restaurant on the premise that caters to all nationalities with their extensive food choices for all meal times of the day. Every interaction with all levels of employees was pleasant and more than willing to accommodate. Thank you for our lovely stay.
The location of the hotel is good. It's a 5 minute drive from many restaurants & shops, and is right on the beach. But that's where the positives about this hotel end. -- One day without hot water. We got back from the beach around 4pm on a Sunday, and attempted to take showers before going to dinner. We had no hot water, so I called the front desk. She confirmed the hotel was "having problems with the hot water heating", and that they were working on it. We tried a few different times the rest of that day, but we never had warm enough water to take a shower. -- Our regular 2 Queen bed room was part of an adjoining room. All three nights were LOUD until 2 or 3am with noise coming straight through that door going into the next room. I put a rolled up towel at the bottom of the door to try to help muffle the noise but that didn't help. The door just let in all the noise. -- Housekeeping stole $125 from us the one time we had them clean the room. I know that because I had just checked my cash 5 minutes before she knocked on the door to make sure I didn't need to get more cash. When she knocked to clean, I wasn't thinking, and left my wallet in my purse in the room while we left for 30 minutes for her to clean. Should have taken it with me, but I've never had that happen before, ever. Got back after she cleaned, took my purse, we went out, and I then saw that my $125 in cash was gone. I wouldn't allow them to clean the rest of the trip since we also had electronics in the room. I didn't bother reporting it, because what are they going to do? Nothing. The service at this hotel was terrible. -- The elevators are a joke. The hotel has 10 floors and there are THREE elevators to service it. We waited at least 5-10 minutes every single time. Everyone else complained about it, too. -- This stay makes me question why I spend 20-30 nights per year at least at Marriott properties. Maybe I need to change my loyalty.
A wonderful hotel on beachfront property, with an active lifeguard. The hotel has been newly renovated with a wonderfully large lobby and dedicated hotel staff to greet you upon arrival. Checking in was friendly and quick. The rooms are spacious, and the air conditioning actually works! They’ve done a wonderful job in the remodel and upkeep. There’s a restaurant on the premises, Blue has a wonderful menu and very friendly and efficient staff. There are two shops on the property also with one being on the ground floor that has spa supplies and outfits, and one upstairs on the lobby level that does have T-shirts, flip-flops, and has also freshly made coffee drinks and a few food items which are mostly desserts. Their ice cream freezer was empty and staff usually just ignores you and is constantly on the phone speaking a foreign language which wasn’t in Spanish. Other than that there are many amenities, including a very large, outdoor swimming pool with actual lanes if you want to go out and do some laps especially when it’s not busy. There’s also a very nice indoor pool for days when there’s inclement weather. We’ve stayed here previously and will be back again with 12 of us. We had two very large suites. And two other king rooms, all oceanfront. Whether you’re here for a convention or other event, or just a romantic getaway this is the perfect hotel. Rooms: The rooms have been renovated and are quite nice. The one good thing also, is they have the total room darkening drapes for that afternoon nap. Food & drinks: The restaurant,Blue has an excellent selection of food and great presentation. The wait staff is efficient and very friendly. The atmosphere is casual elegance with great views. There is room service which they deliver in a brown paper bag. Are they charge you five dollars for the plastic used to keep the food. Did you deliver it to your door in that bag. The people to bring it to your room are friendly and very quick. Room service is fast and pleasant.
Do not stay here. Two - three hours to get checked in. Paid for ocean front deluxe room with request for high floor. Was first given a room with small side ocean view room on low floor. Switched around to 3 different rooms including one which someone was in!! Last one we ended with has damaged TV and is barely clean - very dumpy. Plus during all the chaos of room switching a laptop bag got left behind. Thank god it dawned on me it was missing quickly and we requested back in to retrieve; however, someone else had been in room as the bag had now been shimmied behind furniture and curtain covering it almost completely. I barely saw it when we went got let back in to check for it. Manager acted like not a big deal. We now don’t feel comfortable leaving anything in the room given the fact they are giving out keys randomly to rooms with people in them AND someone on staff was trying to stash our bag to come back later and get - we are certain of that! So stuck in dumpy room with broken tv guarding our stuff! Great start for a “relaxing” beach vacation.
The first room we were assigned smelled horribly of mildew when we entered even the bellman noticed as soon as we walked in, had standing water on the dresser, air conditioner leaked water from ceiling. The staff quickly assigned us another room which I appreciated. However when we had to relocate, we were told a bellman would quickly come and help me and my mother move our luggage. No one showed up - we made several trips between floors and just made the move ourselves. 2nd room: desk chair was ripped a lot to the point I would never sit in it. There was a hole on the bathroom wall with tissue stuffed in it by someone to seal. Our bed comforters had some sort of mildew stains all over them that is only apparent when held up to the light so possibly not seen before with duvet covers over them. Photos attached. For the beautiful location and convenience to the beach, I wanted to love this property. However these cosmetic items do not go with a 4 star price tag. All staff were very nice and pleasant. Food and drinks were great too. If someone could just fix the cosmetic items it would be wonderful as this is such a nice location.
Disappointed in our room. Shower had mold. The floor was "broken". The wall where the desk was located did not have an electrical outlet, so the lamp was worthless and the coffee maker had to relocated to be able to use it. The bathroom did not have a basic necessity, a hair dryer. There were 2 empty containers of body lotion...just another lack of attention to detail. For the price, and the hotel name, I certainly expected more. The staff was extremely friendly. Valet staff 5 stars!
Rooms have tried to be updated. Our room was always warm air conditioner ran all the time. Needs vents in lower area of room not at ceiling where you can’t feel it. Room was very large that a plus but over priced for the quality of room. Mattress way ti soft. Services they provide a lot there such as pool towels food at pool that was a plus. However they need to enforce no glass bottles in the pool. The first two days we were the pool closed due to someone getting sick in pool according to manager on duty. Location was a plus on the beach side. They have beautiful landscaping everywhere. I would suggest investing some of that money in the rooms.
Exceptional service from staff, excellent location, below average rooms, albeit clean. Two beautiful pools, including a deep 13ft pool. Great poolside bar too. Ocean is just a few feet from pools and beautiful area. Rooms are rough. The Marriott has been here for a long time and shows it. Used a suite night award, and their only suite was non-ocean facing. Asked for a normal room facing ocean, which they happily accommodated. Great for families. Cannot emphasize how lucky this property is to have the excellent staff they do, would be rated way lower otherwise.
Love the location and the front counter staff. The views were perfect and from the start of the drive onto the hotel property the location just felt nice. They allowed us to check in early which was very nice. Getting luggage to room, and car parked seemed like a money grab, but went smooth. I preferred parking in the garage. Beds were comfortable and room pleasent and view was nice. Close to lots of shopping and restaurants. Multiple hotel options also are available for dinning and shopping. The elevators were busy all the time, and only three of them. The joke was...ya must go up to go down. As getting a elevator going down, was often packed. So every floor had people waiting, so the elevator took forever to get to the bottom floors. I would stay here again. The price for location was great.
