Hiram Lodge No. 12
Free & Accepted Masons
(A Consolidated Lodge)
On January 7, 1905 Most Worshipful Richmond C. Marshall, acting Grand Master, issued a dispensation to a group of Master Masons residing in the city of Pasadena to form Hiram Lodge U.D. These brothers duly.y petitioned the Grand Lodge in session in the city of San Francisco at its 50th Annual Communication, for a charter. Said charter was granted naming Bro J.T. Long as Worshipful Master, Bro. G.H. Hays as Senior Warden and Bro. H.W. McMicken as Junior Warden, and was designated Hiram Lodge No. 27 on the Grand Lodge Roster. At the 52nd Annual Communication in the city of Bakersfield, Hiram Lodge was renumbered No. 12.
In 1981 Hiram Lodge was consolidated with Landmark Lodge No. 40 of Monrovia, a lodge constituted on June 23, 1925, by a charter given Bro. T.R. Martin, Worshipful Master, Bro. T.W. Presley, Senior Warden, and Bro. N.B. Lyons, Junior Warden. The charter was granted at the 72nd annual Communication of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of California.
In 1985, Hiram was consolidated with Jewel Lodge #24 of Pasadena, a lodge constituted on June 7, 1916, by a charter given Bro. James M. McAfee, Worshipful Master, Bro. J.J. Bunch, Senior Warden, Bro. A. Mables, Junior Warden. The warrant was issued by Grand Master T.A. Harris at the 63rd Annual Communication of the Most worshipful. Sovereign Grand Lodge of California. These consolidations were to strengthen Prince Hall Masonry in the Pasadena and Monrovia areas. Through the years the consolidated Hiram Lodge has numbered among its membership many outstanding men in the community: some in business and some in professions. Hiram Lodge No 12 has Olivett Chapter no. 10 as its adoption.
Hiram Lodge No. 12, due to the deterioration of its Masonic Hall located at 1475 North Lincoln Avenue, Pasadena moved from that building after the consolidation with Landmark Lodge No. 40. Landmark owned a small church located at 420 Monrovista, Monrovia. The Lodge met there for a few years, but found the building too small and needed larger quarters. The building was sold, and plans to build on the site on Lincoln Avenue were discussed. The Lodge bought property next door to supplement the development for the new Masonic Hall. Architectural plans were completed by a local architect, but construction had to be put off for fiscal reasons.
In July of 1995, Hiram lodge moved from Morning Star Baptist Church to the Pasadena Masonic Temple.
