Pennsylvania’s legendary oil boomtown
Pithole was the largest oil boomtown in the region - once boasting 15,000 people, 57 hotels, the third largest post office by volume in Pennsylvania and a daily newspaper. Today all that remains are mowed streets and cellar holes. The Visitor Center offers a diorama of what the city looked liked, orientation film and other exhibits.
