Nice beach, some pebbles when you step in, but then sandy. Many picnic tables near the beach. Lifeguard houses at south and north ends of the beach. North part of the beach is dedicated to windsurfing. I was there in the mid of working day and the place was empty, only one family was picnicking and few persons were windsurfing. Beware, there are raccoons in the area, watch your food. There are rest rooms. No restaurants, so bring your own food. Notable, any glass containers are strictly prohibited in the park
I've been to a lot of beaches, but this one is a little more special. It's usually not terribly crowded during the week I have never been there on the weekends. I also would not try to be in that area when the kids get out of school. A lot of the parents park in the beach parking area waiting for their children. Aside from that, it's a great beach to visit. Beautiful white sand, blue water as far as the eye can see. You can walk quite a way out in the water before your head is submerged. There are a few food trucks that sell a variety of options the trucks are loud, which sort of take away from the tranquility, regardless the beauty of the beach makes up for it and it is nice to have that option. It's a great place to go unwind for few hours. Keep in mind that there are no lifeguards there, so it's swim at your own risk. Dog-friendliness: I've seen dogs on and off their leases here. Owners usually are very good about keeping an eye on their pets. The dogs seem to love the freedom and the stretch of white sand to run and play.
Had a wonderful time . Very nice and clean . Like that the police monitors the area. And most of all want to thank the ocean rescue guards for helping us with my friend truck that got stuck in the sand. Very grateful.
We participated in the MORAES Nest Program, through Frost Science. It was a great educational experience lead by certified volunteers, focused on sea turtle conversation. Virginia Key Beach is not only beautiful and peaceful especially early morning, but also host to several unique elements. It's a historic location, preserved as a reminder of progress. The park offers extensive bike trails with fun names mostly rock songs at varying levels of experience. There is a PADL rental facility, where patrons can rent water sports equipment. There's beach areas, picnic areas, playgrounds, "hidden" swing, plenty of walking trails and stunning views. *I was saddened to see that despite multiple organized beach clean up efforts, there are still areas where it's evident that some beach-goers aren't leaving the beach as nice as they found it.*
A very beautiful place, especially at sunrise and sunset. Entrance to the territory is paid - they took eight dollars from us. Cash payment. A clean toilet is available on site. Be sure to take mosquito repellent with you, there are incredibly many of them.
Very nice view. Plenty of parking but get there early. Not the best beach in south florida. It's really a bay. But nice nevertheless.
Love it. Not crowded, especially at the northern end. Nice to feel secludwd in a natural environment. We snorkeled from shore, which was pleasant for us. It's not like reef snorkeling, but plenty of cute little fish, guitar fish, and large spotted rays and sting rays. I am sure there are a lot of turtles in season. There were food and drink trucks at the southern end by the volleyball courts. Bring something long sleeved or insect repellent. If the breeze dies down, the mosquitoes are ridiculous.
Historic Virginia Key Beach Park, located off the Rickenbacker Causeway, is just minutes away from the Miami’s downtown financial centers, top tourist destinations, sport facilities, retail, dining and renowned educational institutions. I love it !!
Very cute, we went out 9n a busy weekend and it was not as crowded as the other beaches, you pay $8 once to get in. Bring water shoes ! Little sand and lots of rocks right up on the shore and more going into the water, it's shallow. Cute beaches under the mangroves.
Beautiful family friendly as well as dog friendly. Lots of choices to eat,Beautiful beaches and I found the many options of rental bicycles, etc very cool. You couldn't ask for a better place to relax
