Handmade Pottery for the garden and home
As a potter living in a small town outside of Charlotte, NC, I find the inspiration for my work out of my interest in gardening and home design. Many of the flowers and plants that are used for patterns are growing in my garden. Each piece is hand built and high fired in my studio. The high firing process makes the planters better able to withstand freezing temperatures that winter brings. The planters are unglazed gaining their rich and varied color from different clays. Each planter is dried for several hours so the flowers, plants or insects may be added. Once the flower, plants or insects are added, they are slowly dried for several days to over a week to minimize cracking. When the planters are completely dry, they are then high fired in an electric kiln.
The building and firing process makes each piece unique! Drain holes are put in all planters unless otherwise requested. You can plant directly in the planters or fill them with pre-potted plants. The unglazed earthen colors compliment many different home and garden decors and settings. Custom and commissioned work is available upon request. Please call or email me to discuss planter sizes, and selection of flowers, plants, or insects to be applied. We can also determine the number of weeks it will take to complete your order and delivery options.
