I would really like to give this a better rating because it's a beautiful hotel in a great location but hey didn't clean our room the 3 days we were there. Whether a glitch or not , housekeeping gets an F from us. Almost everyone else was just wonderful. We were there for a wedding and it was flawless. Thumbs up to those people, and the bartenders especially were top-notch .
Delmar hotel Is a recently renovated Holiday Inn. It has beautiful views of the lake. The lobby and restaurant are modern and fresh, the staff pleasant and efficient. We checked in and went to our assigned room we noticed that the carpets in the halls are soiled, but otherwise things seemed to be new and clean. But there was a strong scent of some king of air freshener throughout the hallway As we opened the door to our, we were overwhelmed by the cloying smell of what I believe is a cleaning product like, mistolin, fabuloso or something similar, used by housekeeping on the floor. There was no way we could stay even for a few minutes with the smell. We returned to the front desk and the clerk kindly changed rooms for us. The second was better. However, once we got settled and took off our shoes, we noticed that the floor was sticky to the touch with a residual odor of stale mop. Not wanting to change rooms again, I wiped down the floor with a wet towel. You can see the results in the attached picture. It was filthy. This can happen when housekeeping is not changing the mop water between rooms. If your room is first with a fresh bucket of water, the floor will be clean. If it is one of the last ones of the day, all they are doing at that point is spreading dirty water around, so the use the fragranced cleaner to mask the smell After waking up on and off all night from the noise of the AC fan and fluctuating temperature, I realized that the AC was at one moment cooling, then would sometimes cycle to heat before switching back to cool again. So I had maintenance come to look at the system. The thermostat is either on or off, and permanently set to Auto so it will switch on its own. The maintenance super very kind, but explained that there wasn’t anything he could do about either the noise or thermostat as it is programmed that way. He said that what he usually advises guests, is to turn the temperature down cooler than preference before going to bed, then turn the unit off to prevent it from cycling between hot and cold all night. They clearly know that there is a problem and have not chosen to address it. There are three things I expect from a hotel. It has to be clean, quiet and dark at night for a good night’s sleep. Unfortunately, Delmar was 0 for three. You can paint it and put in new furniture, but at its core, its still a Holiday Inn. You just can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear
Beautiful hotel, sparkling wine upon arrival. Great views of Lake Michigan. S'mores package offered in the evening to toast on their outdoor fire. Lots of gorgeous places to sit throughout...in and out. Nice outdoor pool with cabanas. Beach access with chairs. Great indoor pool and fitness center with a cute window nook for yoga. Only complaints are the pillows are SUPER flat...even doubled up they are terrible. And we were supposed to have 2 queen beds but they were actually full size.
Happy to be checking out today. Twice in 6 days we were late or missed events while we waited for the lock on our door to be repaired. Worse is we don't know how many times items were left unsecured or if just anyone could have entered at any time because of this non-functioning lock. In probably 4 rooms on every floor you enjoy the privilege of hearing the elevators run up and down all day, everyday. Leaving 2 towels in a room with 3 known occupants shouldn't even be a basic complaint you have to share. The staff is nice so that helps but I'm sure I can find nice people at a better functioning hotel. I see now why it is a 3-star hotel with much higher in-season pricing that will leave you disappointed.
Great hotel right on the water with a short walk to Traverse City downtown for food and things to do. Nice outdoor seating area to relax and watch the boats. Has a sand beach on either side of the building and also indoor and outdoor pools. Staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Beautiful building but their beach is horrific. My daughter picked up broken glass and cigarette butts. There was a deodorant stick and snack wrappers everywhere. Please rake the beach and it could be an awesome spot. Rooms are very clean. Staff treat guests according to what's paid for a room. That sucks and isn't right.Rooms: 5/5
The pictures on Google do not do this place justice. I almost skipped out on staying here to stay at the corporate chain I’m a member of and I’m so glad I didn’t. I came to Traverse City for work and they recommended I stay at Delmar. I could not believe how nice it was and I am SO glad I stayed here. The interior is completely remodeled, including the rooms. The food at Artisan was delicious and my server Giovanni was excellent. I didn’t use the pools but both indoor and outdoor pools are heated. They also have a hot tub and a sauna. The walkability to downtown is second to none. Truly cannot wait to come back to stay at the Delmar!
We got married at the Delamar on August 12, 2023 and it was unbelieveable! If you're considering booking it, just do it- you will not be disappointed. We got married on the ceremony lawn, dinner on the terrace, and then dancing/bar/etc... was in the Dayclub and it could not have been more perfect! We had a gorgeous day and it was the perfect mix of enjoying the bay but having a bit of indoor space. The day of translated even better than we pictured in any of our walk throughs. I had initial thoughts that the public terrace and beach might interrupt our ceremony/dinner but it did not at all! They did a perfect job of keeping everything private and separate- I didn't think twice about it day of. The staff was a 12/10. Susan, Stephanie and Erikah were so easy and attentive to work with for the months leading up to the day. They were so communicative, so helpful and offered great ideas. The day of staff continued to be just as wonderful. They were all so accomodating, so fun and positive. My friend recently had a baby and one of the staff even helped her to put on her shoes just to be kind- definitely an extra mile that you don't see anywhere. They all helped to make the day great. As for the food, it was amazing!!!! We got sooo many compliments from guests saying that not only was it the best wedding food that they had ever had, but an awesome meal in general. One of my friends was asking if Artisan served what we offered so she could go back and get it again. They were also so accomodating to those with food intolerances and allergies. Truly, I could go on and on with how great the Delamar was. It was so convenient to have everything in one area and then also have the option for guests to stay at the hotel. Which the hotel rooms were lovely. We had the Bay View Suite and it was soo spacious and well done. Of course, the downtown location makes for an easy walk into town for everyone to enjoy their weekend leading up to the day, too. Side note: We booked the Nauti-Cat on Friday night as our rehearsal which docks at the Delamar- highly recommend that too! : All in all, just book the Delamar! It is the best and maybe most underated venue in all of TC. The best part of TC is the lake and no venue gets you closer. Thank you again to the Delamar for the perfect day!!
My first time Traverse City for a conference and having a comfortable bed right by the water was fabulous! The only thing I would have liked was a black out shade over the window that covered the WHOLE window to block out the lights on all night right outside my window. Room was bright!!
