This place is a sweet little spot for walking our beautiful bike trail and spotting wildlife right in the middle of the city. It's also wonderful for taking kids fishing! It's catch and release only, but there are plenty of sunnies and even some HUGE bass and catfish in there! On a hot day, you get a nice mist from the waterfall, and there's lots of shade for relaxing and reading. It's just a perfect waypoint for decompressing after a long workday or for a long, leisurely lunch break. Dog-friendliness: Plenty of room to run with your best friend! Just keep them on-leash, as there will almost always be other people and animals around. Picnic area: Big grassy expanse for putting down a blanket to picnic. There are a couple of picnic tables as well.
Barely walked the trails, but we will definitely be back. The paths are clearly marked, multiple easy paths, some more challenging. There are a handful of picnic tables with grills near the parking area, along the water.
Very nice and quiet little park. The stream with a little waterfall is so relaxing to watch.
I enjoy going to this place, it's usually pretty clean and if you go early it's not crowded st all.
Easy to find, and easy to park here. Though I would plan somewhere else to park if you go at a really popular time as the lot is small. It has several trees that are great for laying under if you pick one near the water just make sure to keep a respectful distance from the geese. It's also pretty easy to find the part of the trail that leads to the creek and the viewing area for the waterfall. I had a peaceful time here and met a few other folks using the park. Restrooms: I saw one porta potty at the park. It gets the job done. It is a porta potty sitting in the Southern heat and humidity, so take that into account if you are sensitive to smells or heat. Picnic area: I saw at least three picnic tables. The one closest to me had a grill and was near a tree. I can't confirm al tables had grills but the place does seem well kept.
This is a fun place to bike, walk your dog, or run. It's shady and there are multiple trails, both paved and unpaved, going in all different directions! Many things to see along the train....waterfalls, an old tunnel, a wooden bridge.....which makes the journey interesting as well as calming!
4.4 stars not quite a 5, but a wonderful little spot, the biggest attractions are the waterfall and the tunnel, plus it's a pull out for canoe and kayak who drop in further upstream... It's only a 2 mile walk to Percival's isle and there are a plethora of trail options here. It's really got the city next to and even through it with the train tracks and traffic, but it's pulled back enough to still be peaceful and a great getaway for Lynchburg and surrounding areas... Everyone should stop by and checkout the tunnel at least once!
Beautiful. Nice place to walk and relax.
Beautiful day for a walk. Water was beautiful. Nicely taken care of.
Scenic waterfall and tree lined trails. Very nice walk in the summer especially if you walk up to the train tunnel. Highly recommend will visit again
