My children attend this High School and have loved every second of it. Offers something for everyone including everything from dance, choir, auto mechanics, agriculture, drama, band, woodworking, and just about every other technical and fine arts class you could hope for. Excellent FFA, sports, and fine arts programs. I have also never seen a school with so many clubs and extracurricular activities available. Beyond that, the teachers are accessible, helpful, and willing to give their students that extra time when they need it. Even for being such a large school, there is a sense of pride and closeness with all there from staff to parents, to students, and even the community as a whole. Large school with a huge student body with a small school feel. Look forward to my children having many more good times here.
I am a 1979 graduate of Hollister High and I loved it. You get what you put into it, and you can either like or not, your choice. The extra curricular activities were the best, the staff was the best, and the Balers were the best. I miss my days.
My daughter went to SBHS and my son currently goes there. My daughter never really clicked with the school and ended up on Independent studies after two years. The independent studies program at the school is excellent and very well supported by the school. My son absolutely loves the school and is having a great time.He is an excellent athlete football-wrestling and that is a huge plus at the school. Hollister is very near Silicon Valley and many residents make the 50 mile commute to San Jose ever day. It is however unique in that it sits isolated from everything, being 12 miles off Hwy 101. Its in a world all by its self...in a good way. There is no driving through Hollister on your way to anything, except perhaps hog hunting. SBHS is large because it covers the entire town of Hollister...about 3000 students. Sports are HUGE in Hollister and the town really supports its high school teams. Don't let the "Small Town in the middle of row crop farms" fool you. All sports programs at SBHS are very high end and SBHS regularly THUMP the large schools in the San Jose area. It should be noted that Hollister is a working persons town full of good, hard working folks who don't have a ton of money. If your son is a "rich trash talking type" you may want to send him to a different school. There are plenty of "my BMW cost more than your BMW" schools around, but SBHS definitely isn't one of them. All that stuff will get you at SBHS is a busted up lip.
Best high school before moving to Los banos I thought SBHS sucked but weSBHS have it so much better than any other school we have cool teachers awesome campus supervisors and the best principle I'm a junior at LBHS and I hate it I want to go back to SBHS. Once a baker ALWAYS a BALER
If you grew up in Hollister, then you cannot wait to be a Baler. Great sport programs. Lots of extracurricular activities.
Worst school for any kid trying to grow. So overcrowded you would have thought something crazy happened...and it did. It was no other high school being built.
I interviewed students and what they have said the teacher staff members they do involve interact with the students also they do care about them and there future
this place sucks went there for 4 years and can say with out a doubt worst 4 years of my life
I studied there still miss those days
