Jane Casnellie, Artist & Owner Hollyhocks Art Gallery
Prior to living in America, Jane lived in Southern Spain. However, she was born in Nottingham, England and lived there for over twenty years. Jane continues to visit Europe often, especially Italy and France. As a result, many of her paintings reflect her interest in these beautiful countries.
A self taught artist, the creative process has always played an important part in Jane’s life. However, it wasn’t until she moved to Pinehurst, with her husband Gene, she began to devote time to oil painting, ultimately opening Hollyhocks Art Gallery over ten years ago.
Jane continues to create work that reflects her love of nature. She enjoys a wide variety of subjects, including colorful and vibrant European landscapes, expressive florals, and unusual still life. Other subjects that have grown in popularity are Jane’s beautifully executed pet portraits. Her affinity for, and love of animals affords her the insight required to capture the animals’ inner spirit. As a result, pet portrait commissions have become an important part of her portfolio.
The diversified nature of Jane’s work has garnered numerous awards, many commissions and corporate installations. Jane also offers private art instruction by appointment.
In addition, Jane is pleased to represent a talented and selective group of local artists at the Gallery. Occasionally, Jane paints at the Gallery, most often on Saturdays, but should you miss her, she can be reached at her home studio in Pinehurst. Jane accepts commissions and is available to meet with clients by appointment.
