Holmes Junior High is a 6th through 8th grade school located in Mt. Prospect, Illinois. Mt. Prospect is a northwest suburb of Chicago and is located in the general vicinity of O’Hare airport. Holmes Junior High is one of fourteen schools that together comprise Elk Grove Township Community Consolidated School District 59. The enrollment at is approximately 545 students who represent many different backgrounds and cultures. The school mascot is the hawk, and our school colors are red and black. Our school is named after Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. (1841-1935). He is remembered as a United States Supreme Court Justice. Holmes was highly regarded for his defense of free expression and his eloquently written case dissents. It is fitting that our school is named for Oliver Wendell Holmes, because we value the diversity and exchange of ideas. Holmes was built in 1967 and is picturesquely situated on a large campus area. Great care has been taken to maintain the many bright interior spaces as well as the exterior appearance of our building.
The District and the Board of Education expect that participants will treat each other with respect. Posted comments that contain vulgar or abusive language; pornography; personal attacks of any kind; offensive terms that target specific ethnic or racial groups or incite violence or violate District and/or Board policies may result in disciplinary action for students even if these offenses did not occur on school grounds or during school hours. The District will delete offensive comments including those that are spam, are clearly “off topic” or that promote services or products, and will make every effort to do so within a reasonable time frame, allowing for the manual nature of the removal process. The District reserves the right to remove any post without providing a reason. The District reserves the right to reveal your identity (or whatever information the District has) in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any of your posts.
