Dr Holt lost a screw in my bone marrow that can never be retrieved. Worse than that is he did not tell me! I saw it on my X-rays! He said it was my fault because I have soft bones. The bone density test proved otherwise. I have complications including more surgeries from this mistake. Dr Holt, are you still in practice?
I ruptured my Achilles tendon in 2013 and Dr. Holt and his staff repaired it for me. He reassured me that he's done hundreds of these procedures and everything appeared to go as planned. I would highly recommend Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Specialists as they put me at ease during a fairly serious injury and carried out their work with the utmost professionalism. Thanks Dr. Holt!
Following our daughter's very good result with hip surgery through Dr Broussard from this practice my husband went to Dr Holt for an ankle problem. Worst ever experience with a physician...ever..My husband had been critically ill for many months prior to this visit . He suffers with psoriasis and had been unable to take the medication for it due to his illness. Dr Holt was visibly disdainful of touching him, gave him a rx to brace his ankle . Although there was conversation regarding his knee as well the response was I don't do knees and he made a mad exodus from the room...NEVER heard from him again....NEVER. .There was never an element of humanity about the visit, nor was there ever eye contact. I would say if you are a person who requires ANY personal involvement this is not the doctor . Personally he could not work on my dog...
I went to Dr. Holt on the recommendation maybe even several from local moms that had issues with their toddlers. My visit was SO not helpful. My then 20 month old clearly walks with a limp. He did xrays, etc. I had to force him to watch her walk at the end of the appointment, which he didn't think was important and said it was normal. Never explained anything and said nothing was wrong. Then took her to a podiatrist and he said something was missed by Holt and we are taking her up to a pediatric ortho. He was dismissive at best. Seems like he's either great for you or not. I was def not happy. EDIT: Went up to Sinai in Bmore to another ortho and she has juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. So yeah, he missed the boat.
I have been a patient of dr. Holt since 1993, I was told by several doctors that I would never walk normal or be able to have a physical job.after 2 years in pain I was referred to dr.holt, it took him 10 minutes to tell me what was wrong.long story short he operated on both of my ankles and changed my life forever.I have been pain free for over 20 years.I know I can never repay what he did for me but I just wanted to share my experience.
I'm trying to tell this story in as few words as possible without leaving out anything important. I went to the Ortho and Sports Med center last year after I injured my ankle on January 1st, 2015. I have been spraining my ankle for no reason since middle school. The reason I went in this time was because usually, it would just hurt all over, but I had a very intense pain in one specific spot. He told me he didn't "feel anything" when he was feeling my ankle, so he went ahead and told me to schedule surgery to strengthen my ankle. The first surgery date was six months later on June 17th...during the surgery, he realized I had a three inch split through my tendon - hence the intense pain! Recovery protocol was not followed for a tendon repair, only for the strengthening, so I was only kept NWB for 48 hours instead of 1-3 weeks, and I never had any kind of cast, just a walking boot, from day one. Fast forward to 8 weeks ago. I injured the same ankle in the same spot. I went in to see him and asked him to send me for an MRI this time so we could have a definite answer - he once again told me he didn't "feel anything" and told me to come back in 6 weeks if it was still hurting. Needless to say, I found a new doctor. The new doctor was shocked that he never did an MRI, which he should have done for the first injury, but ESPECIALLY with the reinjury. Would you like to guess who got sent for an MRI right away to find out if I split the exact saame tendon again?! Incredibly frustrating to know that I didn't get the proper treatment from the start. Could have saved me a year of pain. Seems uninterested, doesn't spend time, and doesn't listen. Would not recommend to anyone.
Excellent physician. Very intelligent and caring.
