Hooked on Fishing is a not-for-profit organization that provides fishing opportunities for kids, seniors, veterans, and people with special needs.
Hooked on Fishing was founded by Mike O'Reilly in 2008. In June 2014, Kelly Presley took over the President and CEO position along with Park Director, Dan Gannaway. Hooked on Fishing is a private, not-for-profit organization that provides free fishing and education opportunities for kid 5-15, senior citizens, people with special needs and veterans. All fishing is catch and release, the equipment, bait and instruction are all provided by volunteers. The park is open to the public every Sunday during the season for family fishing day. During the week is by reservation only and the education can be catered to fit the needs of each group. Beyond the basics, we enjoy teaching fish biology, knot tying, fishing ethics, fishing techniques and good fishing sportsmanship. We are happy to work with teachers, scout masters and group leaders to custom design instructional programs that meet their specific educational objectives. Because of the importance of artesian wells in supplying water to our ponds, we can also provide instruction on aquifers, artesian wells, and water quality issues. Our enthusiastic volunteers are able to provide much one-on-one help, guidance, and instruction to novice anglers.
