The Hoover Historical Center preserves the Hoover legacy in the Hoover family's Victorian home. Elegant Victorian and family furnishings compliment Hoover Company history which includes war memorabilia, vintage ads, and Hoover products.
Hoover Historical Center is located on Walsh University's north campus inside Hoover Park, original Hoover family farmland. The story of the Hoover legacy, a name known around the globe, is preserved and shared here. Tours begin in primitive 1840s building where docents brief visitors on family history and original business of tanning. The evolution of cleaning devices is displayed here with inter-actives for visitors - manual sweepers from the mid-late 1800s and early 1900s. Hoover history continues in the family's Victorian home with the first 1908 Hoover vacuum through the 2008 Hoover 100th Anniversary line. Elegance abound with Victorian décor, furnishings and ladies' fashions which complement the history. War memorabilia, Hoover songs, ads, plant histories and more!
"The Hoover Historical Center presents free, guided tours that highlight the evolution of floor care and the remarkable contributions that The Hoover Company made during World War II. Visitors will see dozens of Hoover vacuums and other appliances that date from 1908-2008 as well as original artwork and advertisements. Tours are offered on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from March - October at noon, 1, 2, & 3pm. Field trips and group tour opportunities are available. Research requests can be submitted via email or by setting up a special appointment to visit. Donations are gratefully accepted."
