79 YEARS OF COURAGE, TRADITION, AND HONOR
On September 1, 1939 the Hopwood Volunteer Fire Department was founded, it was later Organized on June 21, 1942 and then Chartered October 6, 1942. The fire department started out as a one engine company, where the engine was housed in a local black smith's shop. Later the fire department purchased land on the South Union side of Route 40 in historic Hopwood, Pennsylvania. This is the same location where the fire department is still located. The fire department has since grown from only having one fire engine to service the residents of Hopwood. We now operate with two heavy pumpers, one mini pumper/rescue, one heavy rescue, a brush truck and 2500 gallon tanker. We are also proud to say that the construction of our new station is in process and is almost complete. The new station was built right over top of the older fire station.
Our department runs a wide variety of emergency and non emergency calls, these calls range from: Structure Fires (Residential and Commercial), Vehicle Accidents, Vehicle Fires, Automatic Fire Alarms, Wildland Fires, Physical Rescues, Public Service Calls (Trees Down, Wires Down, Flooded Basements, Flooded Roadways), and EMS Assist.
To protect the lives and property of the residents of Hopwood, and surrounding communities where ever we may be called.
