About Us
Obstetrics
We manage high and low risk pregnancies. We do all of our deliveries at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, MA. High risk pregnancies are co-managed with Boston Maternal Fetal Medicine. Ultrasounds and routine labs are performed in our Brockton and Bridgewater offices, as well as at the hospital. Some of the more common high risk conditions we manage in pregnancy include hypertension (including preeclampisa), diabetes, twins, thyroid conditions and asthma.
Gynecology
We manage a variety of gynecologic conditions including well woman exams and routine vaccinations (flu, Tdap, HPV). We also evaluate and manage symptoms and conditions related to the breasts, reproductive, urinary, and bowel systems. Examples of some common conditions we see include:
- Problems with menstrual periods including cycle regularity, pain, headaches and recurrent infections
- Urinary incontinence, painful and or frequent urination, urinary tract infections
- Pelvic pain, constipation, sexual pain, pelvic organ prolapse
- Infertility
- Recurrent yeast and/or bacterial infections
- Contraception
Our major gynecologic surgeries are performed at Good Samaritan Medical Center by Dr. Aslami, including minimally invasive robotic surgery. Robotic surgery allows patients to recover from major gynecologic surgery including hysterectomy much faster, and with less pain and better cosmetic outcomes, than traditional surgery.
Office procedures performed for the diagnosis and management of abnormal pap smears and abnormal uterine bleeding include colposcopy, LEEPs, hysteroscopy and endometrial ablation. We also offer office based tubal ligation.
We recommend a comprehensive cancer risk assessment yearly for all women to search for clues which may point to a possible hereditary cancer syndrome. We offer testing for hereditary cancer syndromes. For those women who have an elevated risk for cancer unrelated to a hereditary syndrome, we offer additional screening and cancer risk reduction strategies, particularly for breast, ovarian, uterine and cervical cancers.
Menopause management
Many women experience a variety of symptoms as they transition out of their reproductive years and into menopause. Commonly encountered symptoms include hot flashes, night sweats, poor sleep, mood changes, sexual pain, loss of sexual desire, weight gain, acne, unwanted hair growth, poor concentration, forgetfulness, bone loss, muscle aches, joint pains, increased frequency of urinary tract infections and vaginal infections, to name a few. Many women and their families are frustrated by their symptoms, and fearful of traditional hormone replacement therapy. We offer a balanced approach to these problems, and will discuss a variety of treatment options including vitamins, supplements, nutrition, bioidentical hormone replacement, traditional hormone replacement, medications and lifestyle changes to help women regain their sense of self and well being.
Adolescent gynecology
Teenagers experience a variety of physical and psychological changes as they transition from childhood into young adults. Frequently, they experience irregular, painful menstrual cycles, headaches, mood swings, acne, fatigue and weight gain. Many teens begin sexual exploration, putting themselves at risk for sexually transmitted infections and pregnancy. We want to partner with teens to help them understand and care for their bodies in the most safe, effective and manageable ways.
Sexual Dysfunction
Sexual dysfunction affects women and men of all ages. The most common problem seen in women is loss of sexual desire. Other common problems include decreased sexual arousal, sexual pain, and difficulty or absence of orgasm. Frequently seen sexual problems in men include erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, and loss of desire. We treat all aspects of female sexual dysfunction. We can perform initial evaluations on men, and refer them to urologists and other specialists if needed.
Wellness
We are committed to helping women and their families pursue health and wellness through optimizing nutrition, identifying and correcting nutritional deficiencies, detoxifying from pollution and pesticides, balancing hormones, sleeping better, managing stress, losing weight, and making daily choices with regards to food, food preparation and storage, personal care and hygiene products so as to minimize toxin exposure.
Do you ever wonder if gluten free is for you? Should you avoid GMOs (genetically modified organisms)? Should you take a probiotic? Vitamins? Fish oil? Hormones? Eat paleo? Do you have chronic health conditions (for example, asthma, allergies, fatigue, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic fatigue syndrome, headaches, PMS, poor sleep, the list goes on and on) that you would like to approach from a nutritional perspective? We are here to help guide you through the evidence regarding nutrition and toxins as they relate to chronic diseases and wellness.
