Description

Thanks for stopping by our Facebook page to share the love.

If you're here, you probably know what Hosparus Health is all about. But just in case you don't ... We're a fully accredited, non-profit hospice and palliative care organization that provides care, comfort and counseling for people facing serious and life-limiting illnesses in Kentucky and Southern Indiana.

We're proud to tell you that we're the region's leading hospice care provider. We serve nearly 7,800 patients a year by helping them face end-of-life issues. We know that sometimes facing these issues can be hard, so we approach them with as much care and thought as any other milestone so they can enjoy the best quality of life possible.

We have an awesome team of health care professionals and volunteers who provide pain and symptom control, medication management, personal care, counseling and spiritual care.

One of the many great things about Hosparus Health is that we go to our patients. Our services are provided wherever "home" is; whether it be in a residence, nursing home, assisted living facility or hospital.

If you or someone you know has lost a loved one, our Grief Counseling Center is a great place to receive bereavement services individually, with a group or your family.

To learn more about us, take a look at some of our photo albums, read some of our notes, join a discussion on the discussion board, or post a question!

Reviews are mixed, but my experience through a recent loss was certainly made easier with Louisville Hosparus Health. In a day and age where most private healthcare is collapsing under the weight of limited resources and overpopulation, the service my family received from Hosparus felt like first-class service with full red-carpet treatment.
Next to zero communication with the family, zero updates when a loved one is dying Thank goodness for the nursing to was able to give us updates and let us know what was really going on. It's bad enough to fund out when your loved one needed continous care due to distress while actily dying and hospice would not send anyone out. When a family member found the deceased the nursing home called the hospice as usual and they refused to send a nurse out to pronounce. Even the nursing home stated how extremely disappointed they are with this hospice. I have worked with hospice for over 10 years in another state and my best friend for 25 and we have NEVER seen treatment/ lack of communication as bad as this. Not even a follow up call to the family was givien. When you have a family member s who work in Healthcare you can imagine and dismay we have recieved from this company. Beware!!
Hosparus was so supportive and amazing during a very difficult time. Even though my granddad was only under their care for a few weeks, just having that support system and care was a great help to us, particularly my grandmother who was his primary caretaker. I'll forever be grateful for them picking up on the late night, worried phone calls and giving advice that ultimately made him more comfortable. Thank you to the nurses, social worker and chaplain for making us comfortable as a family as well.
There are many organizations that can provide hospice services and none of them are perfect. Death and the dying process is extremely difficult and not everyone understands what is able to be done or agrees with the requests of the dying person. However, Hosparus Health works VERY hard to be an advocate for the dying person to make sure they are as comfortable and well cared for as possible. When we lost my grandmother to her battle with Alzheimer's and Cancer it was so unbelievably difficult to cope with the guilt of deciding not to give her chemo treatments. She would not have understood what was happening due to her Alzheimer's. The nurses, her social worker, her doctor and the chaplain checked in constantly to make sure our needs were met as well as hers. No transition is easy but their encouragement to be near her, remain with her after passing to say goodbye to her for as long as we needed allowed us to have beautiful moments with her that we would not have had otherwise. I am so grateful that we chose Hosparus.
Hosparus was founded for the right reasons. However, due to demand, they fall short of their mission statement. My family member receiving their services is not being cared for in a dignified, compassionate way. Their mission statement reads: "Our Mission Through compassion, dignity and excellence we seek to enhance the quality of life for those impacted by serious illness." How is it dignite to leave a patient with dark vomit coming out their mouth, I assume dried blood, with dirty sheets, etc. She was sent to the Hosparus in Louisville inpatient- they got her pain under control- then sent her home. The two family members there to care for her are not nurses. They have spent tireless months caring for her. Would you want to see your loved one left in this condition? They don't come every day. Go by your mission statement. Its your Creed. Legislation needs to be passed to help Hosparus give the true care they claim to provide. I may just start the process of that. My family member passed yesterday. When the person showed up at the home to call her time of death- she was cold, didn't say "I'm sorry for your loss" - just stated her name and then went about it like it was just nothing. Very cold.
The experience I had with this organization could not have been worse. The people I dealt with were so cold, direct and insensitive, like this was business as usual for them. When dealing with a dying parent, it is anything but business as usual! My mother did receive daily visits from Hosparus nurses but I don't know what good they did except to give me updates. I am not even eligible for grief counseling now that my mother has died, because I live out of state. I was told to call in-state hospice services but of course that didn't work out. If you any any options other than going with Hosparus of Louisville, I recommended you take a good look at them first!
These people were the most professional, caring individuals in a very difficult job taking care of my mother. They asked lots of questions and didn't hesitate to answer any that we had. I felt like they shot me straight and didn't try to sugarcoat anything, which is what I wanted. Between the nursing home that she was in and Hosparus coming in, I couldn't be more grateful for what they all did. They let my mother leave this life with dignity and respect, and helped all our family deal with the loss. Thank you all that work here, and God bless you all.
I'm having a horrible time with this service 2 weeks in. The scheduler is rude, appointments continuously being changed, sometimes within a minutes notice. I thought I was to be "living", instead I'm sitting here not making plans since, I make plans and then have to cancel to accommodate THEIR schedules, not MINE!!!! I have yet to meet a pastor. Not sure who my social worker is...RIDICULOUS!!!
This service was really helpful in the transition. You couldn't ask for better care, thoughtfulness, time, and advice before, during and after. I truly felt the Dr, nurse, Chaplin and customer service was there for me and my love one at all times needed. Your organization was so appreciated.
Extraordinarily disappointed in Hosparus care. Extremely indifferent and insensitive weekend PRN RN; medications including new MS RX remains undestroyed six weeks after spouse passed: Hospital Hosparus RN was to follow up with us while husband was in ED at Norton Brownsbora and husband remained in 4 point restraints for 10 hours begging to be released with no visit or contact from Hosparus RN. Totally not the compassionate comfort care one would expect.
