A 9 hour pick up window, seriously!? The man who answered the phone was extremely rude. My work does a lot of events with rentals, I'm usually given a 4 hour window, which is completely fair. I'd never trade my vendors for Hotz. Could have been a great opportunity for a new customer.
I went to Hotz for linen and drapery rentals for my wedding. I had met with them to receive a quote about 4 months prior to my wedding and paid deposit. First, I had a few revisions to the original quote and they were very hard to get a hold of, I think two days before my pick up they finally responded. Second, it seemed like during pick up it was kind of like they just looked around to "see" what they had at the time seemed like nothing was actually reserved for me. Luckily all of my table linens were ready and correct, but they gave me a different white napkin with a print when I originally wanted plain white. They didn't have enough even though I had made the reservation 4 months prior. They also didn't have 10ft drape poles at the st. clair shores location and said I should go to the warren location to pick it up the day before my wedding as if I had nothing better to do. For the inconvenience they gave me half off the drape but they failed to mention the warren location is an abandoned junk yard with stuff everywhere in and around a broken down building??? Just had some random guys like "yeah I think this is it". Very confusing. Third, In the end they didn't even give me enough drape to cover the area I needed even though they said they gave me 68ft it was hardly 20ft. Not sure how you mess up that bad. Anyways wouldn't recommend - idk how a rental business is supposed to run but I know this isn't it.
We rented chairs and some bar equipment for my wedding this past Saturday. They were supposed to be black. We received white. they were grossly dirty, the paint was chipped and scratched off. Some of the chairs didn't even have seat cushions aka the part meant to sit on was a wooden frame with a big hole where people should be able to sit on them. When they delivered the chairs they forgot the bar equipment and had to deliver that later. The next morning when they came to pick the chairs up they arrived an hour early 9am and proceeded to yell at me over the phone for not having them bagged and stacked by the door, even though I personally notified the office that we would not have access to our wedding venue until 10 am. Lastly, they charged my card for the remaining balance of our invoice without authorization and before we could even discuss the multitude of problems we had. we will NEVER rent from there again.
I just went here to rent tables and chairs for an event this Saturday. Tracy got an attitude and refused to rent me to me because I asked questions about my credit card. All I asked was if I change my mind will she charge my card. She asked me "are you getting them or not" when I proceeded to explain that I just wanted to be clear about " my" credit card. She handed it back to me and picked up the phone to help someone else. Very rude and unprofessional! A business that does not practice customer service!!!!!
The owner is very rude and disrespectful. I was told it was my fault that they rented me a poor quality product. I called requested can light I was told no problem. However when I set them up at my event they were all different colors and some of the geols were completely burn through. I was told that it was my fault do to me ordering them last minute. I would have rather been told they couldn't accommodate me. My event was in Ohio 2 hours past Toledo in Akron. I call the office to leave a message on Saturday to inform them of the issue. The owner was rude and spoke to me very disrespectfully. The owner offer to come to Toledo to get the lights the problem was I was in Akron 2 hours away from Toledo at my event. I was offer a 10% discount because he offered to come to Toledo. I may not be your million dollars customer. However I am a customer just the same. I have used Hotz in the past with no issues. Im sure I won't return.
Rented 6 dozen chairs on June 16 for a picnic at the Farms Pier in Grosse Pointe. Paid $387.90. The chairs were delivered before we arrived. They were FILTHY. We had to wash them before they could be used. I contacted Hotz after the event to complain and was told I was lying. Would never do business with them again
Rented 10 can lights today. Needed all of them in green, but they only had 7. None of them shined up the wall like they were supposed to, barely shined up halfway. Called the 24 hour help line and they were rude and uncourteous. I set up events all the time and have a listing of reliable vendors. Needless to say, I'm crossing this one off.
Unprofessional, rude, bad customer service. If you do rent from them double and triple check before leaving that they gave you everything otherwise they make twice the money by renting out something they didn't give you and then making you pay to replace.
Nice prices but the customer service is on the low end of the spectrum, Not including the office lady that answer phones. The guy yelled at me for no apparent reason.
Very unprofessional rude and lie and say they gave you more equipment and then charge you for it and I just read another review that said they did the same thing
