Hovnanian School is a private, non-profit, non-sectarian, multi-lingual, co-educational, ELC through Eighth grade Day School in New Milford, New Jersey. It was founded in 1976 and is governed by an Executive Board of Trustees.
The Hovnanian School's approach is comprised of five unique but overlapping elements that are woven through the curriculum and integrated into every aspect of school life. The school's philosophy of teaching and learning creates a warm, safe, and nurturing environment to allow each child to thrive in their own unique way.
Our school community recognizes a set of natural rights: each member four community is an individual human being and each person ought to be secure in property and in basic liberties. We strive to respect and promote the rights of each individual while protecting and nurturing the welfare of the community.
The solid relationship made between administration, teachers and students without the stress of academic competition helps garner a nurturing and friendly school community that prepares our students for a global society wherein everyone-regardless of religious, ethnic or cultural background-is respected and appreciated.
Our mission is to build an active community of lifelong learners in a nurturing educational environment in which each child feels happy, respected, proud, secure and loved. It is also our goal to nurture our students’ understanding of their culture and history in order for them to develop a positive identity. Our aim is to ensure our students’ understanding that all languages and cultures make up a part of the whole to create a healthy, well-balanced individual and responsible citizen.
"Hovnanian School is a private school that seeks to preserve and elevate the Armenian community by creating generations of well-rounded and globally-minded leaders. The school teaches in English and French, with half of the curriculum taught in Armenian. Additionally, leadership, self confidence, and public speaking classes are offered in elementary school and continue into middle school. The target area for Hovnanian School is Bergan County NJ, which has a high population of unvaccinated teachers who must wear masks. However, this does not apply to the students. Tuition at Hovnanian School is affordable, but it is one of the few schools that teach in Armenian 50% of the time."
