Known for its stellar stereophonic sound, kaleidoscopic precision drills, star-quality vocalists and dazzling dynamic dance routines, the “Showtime” Band is the mainstay of a diverse and ever expanding population at Howard. One hundred and fifty members strong, “Showtime” is the largest student organization and holds the distinction of being the "spirit of the University." Membership is not limited to music majors; it is open to all disciplines. Scholarships are offered on the basis of departmental need, overall ability of the student and availability of funds. The diverse repertoire in the marching band includes traditional and contemporary literature. Students of all ranks join the band and their majors range from Biology to Sociology while Music majors make up less than 20 percent of the band.
