Probably the single worst branch of the single worst bank. I’ve had dealings with them on and off for years and have never had a good experience with them. Not even once. Typically, they offer many services but actually do very few - unless it’s taking your money, keeping your money, or finding reasons you cannot access your money right now. That stuff they excel at.
I have to agree with others - this branch is absolutely not just the worst banking experience I have ever had but the worst customer service experience I have had. I had over $100,000 with HSBC and only banked with them out of necessity. The processes and service was impossible to navigate, I could not get help even while waiting a half hour in the lobby, and worst of all, I DON'T TRUST MY MONEY WITH THEM - I AM AFRAID THEY WILL LOSE IT BECAUSE THEY ARE SO SCREWED UP. Avoid banking here if at all possible.
Gone are the days when HSBC was known for its customer friendly service. Deeply disappointed after visiting HSBC Chatham, New Jersey branch today for some business. They informed me that they are now a Business Center and I was told that even for normal banking activities one ought to make an appointment. The staff were extremely unhelpful and impolite and won’t listen. Have decided to put a stop to my over 30 year relationship with the bank after today’s experience. Why should I be contributing towards the salaries of such inefficient staff? Do believe HSBC would lose more business day by day as these practices continue! Wish it was possible to give it a zero star!
This branch has been cut and sliced and pulled about but it seems to have settled as a wealth center. HSBC has largely given up on U.S. retail banking and will no longer lend, even to international premier clients like me. But it’s lucky that this sole NJ branch is nearby. Let’s just pray it stays open. I experienced good service here when I needed a banker’s check. No complaints. I think a lot of the previous poor service can be attributed to low morale and lack of consistency.
Unfriendly service and hard to take money out! Manager grunts when asked to withdraw funds, doesnt make eye contact with customers and prefers to not speak directly with customers. 40 mins to pull money. I stand and they sit… terrible customer centric process and design.
Fast and good customer service Currently there is a Renovation going on which I assume it will make the bank even better
Personal and professional service which only a private bank can offer. I’m so glad that the Chatham branch was one of those retained during HSBC’s broader exit of the US retail banking market. On a recent business trip, I withdrew some cash from an HSBC ATM in the UK. The exchange rate was the spot rate from the prior day’s close with no transaction fee! What other bank offers that level of global flexibility and value?
It is impossible to get a hold of anyone at the branch. Called a few times during business hours and no one ever answered the phone. We have been banking with HSBC over a decade and witnessed service declining to zero.
Terrible customer service and questionable employee training... I witness an employee rudely yelled from the next desk at a customer who was inquiring about her account. Here’s what was wrong with the incident 1 He was polite to his client who wasn’t minority 2 he inserted himself to the conversation without asking if he can assist 3 he did not apologize or correct his tone when the customer told him his tone made her uncomfortable. The customer left without making a scene but she did inquire if he treated her so rudely because she was a minority. Isn’t it a terrible way to start the weekend?
Worst service ever!!! There is no appointment on Saturdays even the hours at the main door say: "Saturday by appointment". I tried to call them, but the lady couldn't understand the country where I needed to get money. Then bring another guy into the call and the guy said that he was going to check if they have the currency, they ask me to hold for a minute...then 10 minutes later no one was on the line. Try to call back, but nobody picks up the phone. Call back again and they hang up on me! I miss when the branch was run by Kymberly.
